I have had one in my G10 for a while now , and I just cant get on with it. It's heavy and has no feel in it whatsoever. It's a wonder i manage to hit the ball (sometimes) as recently I have no idea where the club head is !!!! I must have had a good day on the range when i got it , as it went like a dream. But I'm losing faith it it fast.

So , 2 questions . . . .
1. Has anyone else ever used one in a driver and what do you think ?
2. Has anyone else ever got a driver re-shafted ? If so how much did it cost ?

Junior,
I recently got myself custom fitted for a new driver, 3 wood and hybrid. Each shaft varies in weight, length and kick point. I ended up with a heavy (83g) x-stiff shaft in my driver, but it was slightly shorter than shafts off the shelf.

The driver shaft is a Diamana Blue Board and I couldn't believe how expensive they were (circa £250 a piece), but you can get cheaper shafts that do a similar thing. If you just bought a shaft off the shelf and took it to your pro it would be much cheaper, but it might not be the ideal shaft for you.

The one thing I would say is, there is no substitute for having your clubs custom fitted. The confidence you have when over your driver, knowing that the shaft, flex, length and kick point are designed for your swing helps no end.

I had my clubs done by Zane at Urban Golf Custom Clubs in Smithfield and I would thoroughly recommend them.

Good luck whatever you do.
Cheers,
Jim

It sounds as though you have the heavier weighted V2 which is 76g or something, that makes the shaft play very stiff. I made that mistake a few years ago after trying the 63 g shaft which I hit great.

The V2 is an extremely good shaft, might be worth looking for on on ebay and getting your local professional to swap them over then sell your V2 and hopefully all it'll cost you is about £15 for the pull and re-fit of the shaft.

just out of curiosity what is your bad shot? Straight right? Push?

I play with a regular 65g. I have tried heavier regular shafts and they just feel too stiff.

Hi Tony, My bad shot goes straight right, im really struggling to square the face at the minute. I'm thinking about going back to a regular flex, but nothing too whippy. I think i'll have to hit a few on the range to find out which is the best one. Hopefully i can just swap the shafts over, if not, i might hit the Cobra demo day at Play-golf Manchester in a couple of weeks :)

I was at Play golf the other day trying out Hybrids. I just grabbed a few I thought would suit me and asked for a bucket of balls (the girl tried to charge me) and I refused to pay, then they gave me a bucket load for free (which they usually do)

I had fun trying them out and managed to eliminate 3 shafts I would not be buying.

Tell them you are interested in a new driver money no object and they will chuck you all sorts. Try everything and see what works. You never know, you might find something you really like.

IMO the V2 plays very boardy in the heavier weights 76 etc

I had a Cleveland hi bore xls with a V2 in all fitted and pured etc etc but something about the feel of the shaft was not right

I play x in everything but the V2 in the heavier weight i would most probally suit stiff IMO the stiffest shafts available
