Unexpected replies in conversation

that's what I initially thought was inferred but dismissed it as too infantile......different folks I suppose

Well, it wasn't so much that it was funny in itself (although I guess I'm infantile enough to find it funny), it's the context in that it was part of a work conversation that makes it spittingly funny. I mean, seriously, would you say that about your mother to anybody, let alone at work?
 
Exactly, hence the topic of the thread 'Unexpected replies in conversation'. there is a level of humour if this is your level, which for some it is not, but it is the unexpectedness and completely off topic reply that got me.
 
I was in a large meeting which is normally fairly relaxed. One guy was bemoaning something that hadn't gone his way because he hadn't acted quickly enough and as he finished I said "Well you know what they say; there's two sorts of people in this world, the quick and the disappointed" The guy beside me immediately responded "And they both happily cohabit in my bedroom" The meeting was a little more relaxed than normal for a few minutes after that.
