Ye as far as I know you have to be 4 or less to even consider turning pro and scratch or plus to stand a chance.

it was 50 years ago. can only assume GM did their research and only print facts.

I think Garcia was +5 or similar when he turned pro and then worked hard to improve his game when he turned pro!
Not sure scratch is anywhere good enough these days even though it is an extremely good standard.
