Anybody seen the clips/storey from America where the guy is pushed into a wall by a Police Officer and is now in a coma?

Trying to find a storey on sky/bbc news website but nothing on there.

If you have seen it and know circumstances, your thoughts please?

I have seen so many of these cop clips from US to be really concerned about their mentality. They all too often seem so pumped up yet have little control over themselves and very poor judgement. I understand the danger as people have guns and knives out there, and there is little wonder they are sometimes used against the police when you see this happening. I once watched a chap pulled over for a minor motoring offence, a family man with family in the car, he politely asked the cop what he had done wrong only to get nutter of the week in a uniform, mace him, drag him about and cuff him, then make up a story to his supervisor who initially told him he'd done a good job, till he saw the footage later. America needs to learn the difference between policing and violent assault! Policing is what police do and violent assault is what nutters, criminals and all round baddies do, if thats any help.

I was in San Diego about 5 years ago and there was a story on the news.

The police were trying to move on a local homeless guy from a local square. He was apparently well known in the community, an old guy. No harm to anyone.

He was trying to get his things together but the police wouldn't let him so he got a bit arsey with them.

I think there were 5 or 6 cops, and they called in a dog unit. Well they set the dog on him from behind, he ran from the dog, as you would, but straight towards the other cops, who decide he was going to attack them.

So shot him. Dead ! In broad daylight in front of about 100 people.

The police chief interviewed after called it 'A Tragic Accident" and "it was no-body's fault"

Absolute disgrace. I'm not sure if it was taken further. We returned to the UK a few days later and I couldn't find any further info on it.

Then again there was another shooting when I was out there. A young woman was shot dead in a police drugs raid. She'd been selling drugs to local school kids apparently.

The interviewed her mother and she said. And I quote.

"Just because she was selling drugs to kids it doesn't make her a bad person"

I know she had just lost her daughter, but come on.

The old bill over here are just as bad.

The tactical-team here is made up of the coppers who think they are "well hard", essentially they have watched the sweeney too much and reckon themselves.

They are really good at roughing up kids and bashing up and swearing at skinny weedy youths but they bottle it when confronted by a couple of pikeys or big lumps who are playing up.

I remember being at a petrol station near us and a couple of pikeys in a Shogun had a chain they attached to the bollards on the field opposite, they then looped it onto their towbar and drove away ripping the bollards out so they could get their caravans on. The old bill watched this from the 1st moment, I went over to them and said "what are you going to do about that?" and they said "nothing, they arent commiting a crime" I then pointed out that they were comitting criminal damage, forcing entry to private land and commiting tresspass. I also pointed out that the shogun had no rear number plate and no tax disc. They just shrugged their shoulders. Pathetic, totally and utterly pathetic. What do they think we did when we had to lob a crowd of raging pikeys out of a pub/club?

I really have issues with the majority of the police officers locally, and I have 4 friends who are policemen by the way, there are a few decent ones but for every good one there are 10 who arent no good.

Didnt really want this to get into a slanging match about our Police but I can appreciate where your coming from John. Not one to tar people with the same brush either So I wouldn't say there were 10 no good to 1 good. I do however aknowledge that just like any country/ work place/ office/ golf club/ walk of life, you always get idiots.

Back to the O.P, My Opinion based only on what I have seen is that the copper, was out of order, heavy handed and probably pumped up on adrenaline. WHat I do appreciate is that the Policeman had every right to be cautious about detaining this guy but should have done it in a different way.

Moving onto another point. Are the Police in this country given suitable powers/guidlines to deal with people or should we adopt the same policies as the Greeks or spanish for example?
