My garage is littered with golf things bough on late night telly to help me become the next pro.. but I am still watching the Open on TV. Beyond this, just bought a Karcher Window Vacuum.... blimely its wonderful. how did i survive without this puppy for so long??

Anyone got some gems in their mancave?

PS: I write this as i resist the temptation of buying a power washer. have used it before and it is good, but do i need one when i can borrow one from my mate?

My shed is full of car tools bought over the years for when I did my own servicing etc.

I still cannot get round to dumping them although I stopped doing my own car work in the 80s.

Some of the stuff like a dwell meter, Gunsons spark tune is of absolutely no use for a modern car anyway.

Google Home mini. Got bought it 2 years ago for Christmas had no idea what I'd need it form now it's the most used gadget in my house.

I have loads of stuff in my man cane that I've bought and done need or done anything with so far though

Though I am a technophile.. I just can’t bring myself to buy one of the ‘assistants’.. no idea what I would use it for - how many times would you ask it for the weather??

Plus it will become one more woman who won’t listen to me..

This. The garage clear out is the next big thing on the agenda, closely followed by the golf room clear out. I've sort of justified hanging onto them on the basis that, having had a Mk. 1 Escort years ago, I'd fancy getting another to tinker with as a bit of therapy. Having seen the prices Mk. 1 & Mk. 2 Escorts command these days, it ain't happening without a lottery win.

The other thing is the number of duplicate tools I have. Years ago, bought the tools you could afford, later got better quality ones, but somehow never dumped the original ones. Really need to be ruthless...

I was the same but its syncs to my android phone, so upon waking me up gives me a reminder of what I have planned for day with appointments etc, gives me a run down of news items I'm interested in and let's me know the weather. Then I have it set to sort things like lights and heating as well as communicating with tv to record certain things. It's actually a brilliant addition to my life. As my Mrs says it's helped solve the issue I have of forgetting everything 😂

Yep. Still got one of those. Good for checking voltage in AA/AAA/PP3 etc batteries before throwing them out. Still got a carborundum powder spark plug cleaner and feeler gauges. Can't even find where the spark plugs are nowadays ....

The Gunsons spark tune is a device for setting the fuel mixture. You used to take out a spark plug and fit this. it has a glass aperture through which you could see the spark and the colour of the resultant flame and set the mixture to get the right burn colour.

I sold off the majority of my old school engine tuning items, on the 'bay, about a decade back... Much in demand by classic car enthusiasts and on several of the items I got way more for them than I would have paid for them back in the day... Even part used old pots of grease I 'inherited' from Dad sold for what I thought foolish amounts...

Had one of those as well. The Sparktune measures dwell angle, contact breaker points condition, DC voltage, etc. :)

How do you have "rooms for stuff"? I only have about 5 rooms in my entire house!

Still got the BT pay phone in the garage from the pit when it closed. Got three or is it four cast iron pub stools in the garage. 20 Hawaian shirts I used to wear in the pit head baths coz it was red hot. Chest freezer, now empty. Pit head baths pressure washer bolted to the wall. That thing is better than any of the ones you see the Poles using when taking the paint off your car. If any members of the forum want there bins cleaning, bang um in the car bring them over and al do them for nowt.

I was the same, until next door got broken into. So I invested in a couple of smart bulbs to set to routines whilst we went away

Within a week I had changed 80% the house to smart bulbs and got the echo to control them all because it becomes easier

No shouting up the stairs to the wife in the bath do you want a cuppa.. just call the dot next to the bed and ask babe fancy a cuppa? Yes please

Hive works via it so can boost the heating without using the app

All the lights are on areas and commands

The tv and Xbox work via it. For example if I say bath time to it then the tv turns off, hallway lights come on, upstairs lights go blue (daughters fav colour) and we go upstairs for her bath

Goodnight turns all the lights off downstairs at once except one lone hallway light to guide the way upstairs. Landing light goes blue again because it doesn’t wake anyone else as I’m normally last up when everyone is in bed

Yet I don’t scratch the surface with what you can do with it

My wife hated it, was dead against it, couldn’t see the use

She now loves coming down in the morning saying good morning all the lights downstairs in the areas set come on.. so when she got little lady and a load of washing there is no mucking about just get on with it.

Lunch time for little lady making sure tv is off so she doesn’t watch it, rather than find the remote (up high she she can’t use it) just tell it to turn tv off whilst I’m lifting daughter into her high chair

Ironically the thing I do least is play music via it lol which every other person I know who has one uses it for

Active Noise Cancelling headphones. First saw a demo of active noise cancelling technology almost 30 years ago - the processing required filled a small room - and it was like a magic trick. Just got myself some Bose QC35ii ANC headphones for £260 and again, it is like magic. Keep switching between ANC on and off!

And a dishwasher!

And Sonos.

Bone conductive headphones , got a headset few years ago. Useful if you want to hear what’s going on around whilst watching tv...

Now little lady is here I use them as a headset if I need to make a phone call I can be on the phone whilst she eats her lunch or is playing just explain to the call centre I have s toddler in the background lol

I used to be able to stand in the engine bay of my mk2 cortina to do the tappets and gap my plugs and points.
Now I have one with a black plastic box in the engine bay with a oil dipstick ,that’s all I can see.
Still got my tools though.
