Hi, I’m trying to track this book down — the GB and I volume (without paying over a hundred quid for a book).

It’s a forlorn hope, but is it gathering dust on anyone’s shelf? And could I buy it off you if it is. Thanks..

Try Golf Club Atlas, a site focussed on golf architecture. I once posted asking for suggestions about which Doak course was most accessible and Tom Doak himself replied to me. The Confidential Guide is much discussed and there are more people with copies there than on most other sites.

You can buy it directly from them was quite less than a £100 when I did it a few years ago.

I also managed to track down the original edition from the 90s via Amazon. Was also not above a £100.

The last edition is to go for if you only having one.
FITW I do not agree with all his ratings as eg Woburn is based on his notes from the 80s... not a very fair assesment.

I do like his general approach to golf architecture though.
