im looking identify a ball i found this evening on the course and used it just to see what it was like. I know it was deffinatly not a prov1 as it wasnt as soft and also felt different to me mates nxt.

The problem was all it had on it was Titleist and a red 2.

there was no other writting on the ball to say what type it was i even rubbed the line on it and there was nothing underneath. Was a really nice ball to use went great off the tee all evening and was good enough round the greens for me (im no spin merchant)

If i can find out what these are i think i will change from my good old taylormade balls i bene using for the last year or so.

sorry for the vague description but just wondered if anyone may have an idea

A few years back I did some ball testing for Titleist - they sent me a sleeve of Ball X to try, evaluate and report on.
From memory there were no markings other than the Brand and a number. The prototype turned into the NXT and NXT Tour series.

Could be a prototype of a new ball.

Possibly an old Titleist Professional Connor.

Even better than the Pro V1 imo.

A 90 Professional would feel at least as 'soft' as a Pro V1 to most people - and yes, a great ball.

As to what it is, it's one of those 'I would feel confident with it in my hand' things - there are/have been, so many models over the last 20 years (and I have many 20 years old that look imaculate). Some were nominally the same on the outside but different on the inside, others the same on the inside but with different dimple patterns. more recently it's thicknesses of the same materials as well as different materials and constructions!

Of the recent'ish models I think the 'Tour Extreme' was one of the most underated - and quite rare.

The one with the least writing (that may have rubbed off) was the base NXT.
