Hi. I'm new to the forum but wondered if anyone has the AP1 irons from Titleist. I've just bought some to try and bring my handicap down which is currently 19. I started playing 3 years ago and these are the first decent irons I have invested in.... Have you played with AP1's? Are they going to give me extra distance? Will they get me to a low teen handicap?!?!

Thank you. I did and the pro seemed to think they were a good iron but with a very soft face. They seemed to fly true and give a pretty good level of forgiveness compared to the Nike cavity backs I had, so I just didnt try any other sets!

Thank you. He meant the face being soft that they wouldnt last for years and would mark easily. Still give me an excuse to test some more when they do.. :)

Thought AP1's were the cast version and AP2's were the softer forged variety?????

If there cast they'll last for years (unless your only going to play shots off/from sand). If there forged the steel will be buttery soft and will wear in time, but you should still be ok for a few years.

Howdy folks. Lucky for me ordered the 2009 AP1 irons back in September. Haven't had a chance to enjoy them in normal conditions as I only picked them up on Sunday and got called off by the rain.

Definitely agree with earlier posters that you need to have a solid repeatable swing to get the most out of them. My swing is still evolving (getting there slowly) but I catch about 6 out of 10 well and they really do fly off the face. I've got the project x 5.5 shafts which gave me a more penetrating flight than the standard shafts.

Absolutely love them and can't wait to have a longer hit with them later his week.
