tip trimming on a project x shaft

I've bought a prokect x 5.0 shaft for my driver, trouble is I'm going to have to trim 1/2" off the tip due to the tip being prepped already and on my SLDR adaptor some of the black shaft still show's. Will this effect the flex at all as the website says o tip trimming required for a driver but I don't have an option.

approximately trimming an 'extra' half inch of the tip will rate the shaft around 2&1/2 cpm higher (cycle per minute - frequency measurement that sort of equates to flex in the shaft profile) as an 1" tipped = 5 cpm

around somewhere between 10 - 15 cpm (variance due to no general standard of flex between makers) is generally thought of as 1 full flex
