Tigers moaning

The R & A test the length of the rough at The Open by throwing brand new Pro V1s into it and sending children in to find them. Three children still haven't been seen since last Thursday.
No children were lost really

I just spat hot tea all over myself after reading that! Fair play Bob! To be fair the rough on almost any course in Britain has to be a tad penal after all the rain/sunshine/rain/ we have had.Even my beloved Alyth has much tougher rough than usual.

Even the pro at Royal Lytham is 'moaning' now !!

BBC link ...

Royal Lytham professional Eddie Birchenough admitted that the rough on the championship course was "just brutal", warning "you could lose your feet in there, not just the ball."

thats not a moan either..........

thats a lie as you cant use children for work even unpaid, plus if 3 were missing it would be all over the news and the Open would be cancelled....

i posted a few weeks ago about how thick the rough was at lytham even around the greens it is 2 inch thick and the ball nestles down,we didn't have any rain in april/may in the north west and the green staff used fertilizers to bring on the course, then what happens we have non stop rain hence jungle like rough. On the same note i am getting sick and tired of prima donna golfers (mostly yanks) who cant play unless it is sunny with rough that makes some of our fairways look poor and bunkers that seem to be filled with talcum powder on greens like snooker tables, some have even refused to come over and play in the open because they didn't wish to play on such poor courses! give us a break, play what is in front of you and stop whinging,if it is that poor MR WOODS **** off home and don't come back.

But he wasn't whinging,he was stating a matter of fact and that was taken out of context by the media.

If he did go home, he could play in the True South Classic at
Annandale GC, Madison, Mississippi and if he won, he would earn more money Than Jeevy won last week in Scotland.
But if he stays and wins, he will earn $300,000 LESS than Kuchar won at the Players championship back in May and thats not even a Major.

but would it have the prestige!!! i always though rightly or wrongly that it was an honour to play in the open or is it just about the money now?

He also said "I like the layout. It's fair".
I suppose that was terrible of him too?

The US tour play for over $1m first prize almost every week and I'm sure lots of them would think twice about flying all that way and the jet lag etc etc just to play in The Open where they might even miss the cut.
Sure the TOP players will come but it may explain why the second flight players might stay away.

Unless they are literally scratching about to make a living money shouldn't even come into it when it comes to a major. Besides the value of any major winners endorsements would far outweigh the prize money anyway.

For me Tiger is one of those players that i am just grateful is around in my lifetime and i can have the pleasure of watching him. The Open has got to be better for him being there than not.

But if you don't win it, the tax issues mean quite a large loss for most of the entrants from over seas.

Camillo Villegas is currently 150th on the PGA money list for 2012 and has already earned over $330,000. That's just in prize money and doesn't include European Events. Somehow I don't think many overseas pros who have qualified for the open will be scratching around for money.

I dont dispute that.
What I am saying is that lots of them can make a big cheque this week by playing in the States while all the top players are away.
And in general, they only need one good week to make enough money to secure their card on the PGA Tour.
I'm sure lots will be thinking sod the Open, let's stay here and win some money

Tiger moans about the rough?

........... but is he back???:whistle:

And who is going to throw their clubs the most? Tiger or Garcia, now that they are paired together? Or will Justin Rose out-club-throw them both? In fact, you can add a spitting contest too! Tin hats and goggles at the ready. ;)
