So Tiger making negative comments re the rough and water in bunkers at Lytham, feel our pain the Mr Woods.

Fingers crossed you will visit a few and miss the cut.

It annoys me.
With the weather we've had they should be grateful that there will be a Championship at all.....

Unlike them, we don't seem to be able to control the weather.

Tigers moaning because he's going to have to hit irons off most tees as he's still a bit wayward with anything bigger - and that's going to get him in the Bundu.....

I think he was just saying that it's so thick rather than having a big whine about it. However, if he doesn't want to play out of there then maybe he should stick to the short stuff!

After his first practice round he said: “That rough — oh my God!

“It’s just that you cannot get out of it. The bottom six inches is so lush.

“The wispy stuff, we’ve always faced that at every Open. But the bottom six inches in some places is almost unplayable.”

Sounds more that a description of the rough to me. Is anyone going to say 'wow, I just love the rough on this course'. I think some people clearly wanted to write tiger down at the open, and this just gave them ammunition to twist it.

Surely anybody that doesn't mention how tough the rough is must be mad.

Didn't sound like a moan to me either, just a description and to be fair he wouldn't have been expecting it. Our course and probably every course in the UK has the same type of rough because the weather has stimulated the grass growth more than normal. The rough at RAGC is exactly as he described and completely different to last year when it was more whispy.

We've gotten used to it being like that but for someone coming to the UK for the first time this year it will be a bit of a shock

I heard his comments taken out of context on TV and thought he was having a whine, but then reading the full transcript it seems he was giving a fair answer to a question.

Tiger has his faults but he has always treated the Open and the R&A generally with respect.

I'd be surprised if he came in from a practice round and just launched into a big moan, as it would be a really negative mental approach to take to the week. He knows the conditions are the same for everyone so there's no point getting upset.

not another 'have a pop at Tiger' thread:angry:

The mans a professional who clearly knows how to interview professionaly, I've never heard him moan and this certainly wasnt a moan...............
Have a day off and look forward to the worlds elite playing in similar conditions to us, cant wait

Oh dear, the Tiger haters are out again...:-(

And he's been stitched up by the media again, who says he's attacking the course set-up when really all he has doen is describe what is there for all to see. Yes the rough is thick, and yes there is a lot fo water about..... fair comment from what I can see.

Jeeezzz, it's only Monday and the arguements have started already:mad:;)

Rows coming soon to a forum near you....

1. Faldo is a terrible commentator
2. Westwood will never win a major
3. Tiger is a miserable so and so
4. The BBC are a disgrace
5. The course is unfair / a wonderful test of golf

Can't wait! :D

Even the pro at Royal Lytham is 'moaning' now !!

BBC link ...

Royal Lytham professional Eddie Birchenough admitted that the rough on the championship course was "just brutal", warning "you could lose your feet in there, not just the ball."

The R & A test the length of the rough at The Open by throwing brand new Pro V1s into it and sending children in to find them. Three children still haven't been seen since last Thursday.
No children were lost really
