Am I alone in believing that TW is yesterdays man? No 44 in the world and no wins in months. Yet the press still treat him like a demi god to in my opinion the detriment of ALL other players. Reporting still constantly focus's on TW even (or maybe especially) if he misses a cut. Frankly I don't care and would rather see balanced reporting on the other great players + the emerging talents not on a waning great. Lets celebrate our No1 & 2 far more than we do in all parts of the media.

Steve,

You will quickly learn that this forum is mostly divided into two or three main camps on certain issues. TW is one of these issues and people usually fall into the "He's still the best golfer currently playing", the "He'll be back to form soon" and the camp you (and I) fall into, the "He's done and the sooner the announcers/media stop obsessing over him the better".

It's been discussed before, but for the record I totally agree with what you've said

Yawn, yet another Tiger hater joins the ranks. Been debated many many times, hard to judge when hes been not fit and barely played any tournaments. Once he played 20 tournaments injury free then judge him

How can he be yesterdays man if you have just brought him up again.
No other player 44th in the world would be worth talking about, you have just proved that.

What you have to realise is Tiger is judged rightly or wrongly a lot differently to every other player. Everybody talks about Tiger as in he hasnt won and hes not swinging as good as he used to which is fair enough but he is compared to his old self not as he is now.

For example I am pretty sure Ricki Fowler has never won a PGA tour event, yet no body talks about him being rubbish or never going to win.

Its a hard one to judge as I wasnt alive when Jack was at his best I dont know if he got similar media interest when he started declining.

Also what is worth noting is the attitude to games between the brits and the yanks. Us brits love an underdog love to see a favourite beaten, think FA Cup ties etc. Yanks on the other hand always want the best player/team to win. So I think that has something to do with the yanks media coverage over Tiger and there dismissal of Donald as a lot of them dont see him as the best player in the world.

Im no Tiger fan, I think he is a supercilious knob with a bad attitude towards the fans in the galleries and who buy his endorsed products.

BUT he is one of the all time greats of this wonderful game, his record speaks for itself and you have to respect that.

I have a sneaking suspicion that once he gets fully fit there will be a bit more to come from him.

Anyone who saw him crucify F Molinari 4-3 in the Ryder Cup singles last year has to agree that he aint dead yet.

He's possibly the greatest golfer ever so he should still be held in high regard. Nicklaus, palmer etc are still celebrated so tiger should be. I'm not a fan of his but as a golfer I admire him greatly. Easily the best golfer of my lifetime and as I've already said possibly the greatest of all time.

The man has an aura and a presence, Westwood and Donald, despite being great guys, just dont have that.

It's that presence that people are drawn to, he is like Michael Jordan or Michael Schumacher or Maradona, these people intimidated opponents just by turning up and despite losing some of their talent as they age they are still people that othes are drawn to.

It's greatness pure and simple.

Tiger is the only golfer playing who has it. Phil M would be next but a long way back.

Until he quits officially he'll always be the one to watch, even if people don't like him they'll still want to watch him. Fact.

Is there any chance the powers that be would consider adding another section to the forum for Tiger woods stuff ?
The mere mention of his name now is enough for me to want to read no further , be it here , newspapers or where ever

I could understand your point but the thread had his name in thats got to be some clue lol :D

This has nothing to do with injury, its all to do with his private life and state of mind.
He managed to win the US Open after 5 rounds, with his knee all but shot.He had 2 lots of surgery earlier that year, and again afterwards.
If you want to see how Woods future career will play out, think Mike Tyson.
