Tiger Woods PGA tour 07 for the PC - help

Does anyone know the answer to this mystery? I have just begun playing the game and have no money for lessons, since I spent it all on equipment (foolish boy!) However, I have played several rounds and have amassed points which I have used to increase my "attributes" and unlock lessons. However, when I click on take lesson, it tells me I don't have enough money to take the lesson.

Any idea why anyone?

From what I remember you make money by hitting fairways and greens in regulation and also for long drives and accurate approaches.

Also, can you not sell equipment bought?

I never played 07, but the above was true for 04 that I had.
