Tiger Woods is reportedly targeting a return to golf at the WGC Match Play Championship in Arizona on 17 February.

The Melbourne Herald Sun newspaper reports that his management team has approached organisers about the logistics of playing at the WGC event at Dove Mountain in Arizona.

Lets hope this is true. Will give him time to get everything sorted in time for The Masters.

Terrible news for all the also rans who thought they would have a chance to make a name for themselves in the majors whilst he was away. Back of the queue again lads.

Never apologise,
Never explain,
Just get on the course,
and play your game!!

As much as I cant wait to see Tiger back on the course, I wholly disagree with the statement above!

As a mark of respect for his fellow competitors, he should make a public appearance before he gets on the course and deal with the fallout from his "transgressions".

If he doesnt, and his first public appearance is when he arrives for the Accenture, then it is going to be a circus of media frenzy, and neither Tiger, his competitors nor golf, needs this.

He should hang his head in shame for bringing the game into the gutter.

His fellow competitors should mind their own business, his "trangressions" were private, and nothing to do with golf, he should let the media stew and only answers questions about golf. Everyone should have the right to a private life.

I cannot see which part of the game he has brought into the gutter....surely his multiple shagging had hee haw to do with golf.

It'll be great to see shagger sorry Tiger back.

Haven't Accenture dropped him?

Would he make his return at one of their tournaments giving them a load of publicity?

Time will tell I guess but I can't seem him turning up.

Rubbish. You must be thinking of a different Tiger Woods to the one who has mercilessly exploited his background, father-son teary eyed relationship, father's lingering death, father's memorial, pictures of loving blonde wife and cute mixed race kids, "charity" activities, working in inner cities etc etc.

And the one who sells you watches, management consultancy, shavers etc based on his image.

That Tiger whored his private life to the media make that billion dolars, and as such, deserves all the negative publicity he is getting.

I am sure his competitors will say little, but sports psychologists all over the Tour have now painted an image for their clients of Tiger being chased down the drive by his wife wielding a 9 iron. They will use that mental image when they think Tiger is getting one over them. Not one leg, hopefully.

Hate to disagree with you Drawboy but I really do think he has shot his bolt....in more ways than one.
HE WILL NOT BEAT JACKS RECORD

Oh joy of joys! :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Zzzzzzzzzzzzz :p

I agree, BigRuss. I can't really be arsed whether he comes back or not, because I cannot see him taking Tom's advice and showing humility. Golf will survive without him, the sport is bigger than the man.

What's humility got to do with it.

I want to see him play. It is what he does best (depending on who you ask, and what the sport is).

Why would anyone who is a golfer not want to see Tiger play again? Ok, I don't want to see any interviews, but then if I want to listen to someone who intervies well, I wouldn't chose a sportsman anyway. Give me Frank Skinner every time.

But for watching golf Tiger is still the best around.

I do find it ironic that he's planning to come back at the Acccenture after they dropped him. I guess he feels that a matchplay event means it doesn't matter how well he scores (in a golfing sense). I do think there is a distinction between what he does as the best golfer on course and what he does in his private life but the two do converge somewhat into his on course and post round behaviour and it'll be interesting to see how much, if any humility there is.

I agree that Tiger is the best golfer out there, and by a distance. I also like to watch him play. I am also not that bothered who he has been bedding.
What I am fed up with is the tantrums, the swearing, the spitting, the higher-than-mighty attitude, his ar--hole of a caddy, the smashing of clubs into the ground, the US TV concentrating 50% of coverage on him when he isn't even playing a shot, the US TV placing him as high up the leaderboard as they can even when players on the same score have played more holes. As I said, I'm not that arsed whether he comes back or not.
