Tiger Woods 2000

there's a stat which I will butcher, but it is something like between 1999 and 2003, Tiger had 1800 ish putts at 3ft or under. he missed THREE.

I get a little bored with people gushing over him, but his dominance won't be seen again. that isn't in question.

During the build up to the US Open they talked about the season Woods had in 2000

Is there ever a season that comes close to it ?

And what about in other sports - anything to rival it
Wow... That is unbelievable...
Glad you put that up, I certainly never realised he was THAT dominant during that season... 💪.
I doubt very much anyone is ever going to match it.... Ever..

One of the most mind boggling stats about Tigers Woods is from 1997-2013, he was -126 in the majors. His nearest rival was +125.

It's such a shame he became obsessed with all that SEAL training stuff which wrecked his knee and started all the fitness issues. He should've had 30+ majors.

I really want to think or some sporting dominance that can compare to Tiger in 2000, but I'm not sure there is anything. Possibly Man Utd's treble, but none of those trophies came with the total dominance that we saw from Tiger - Arsenal should have beaten them in the FA Cup semi, the League went to the final day of the season, and we all know what happened in that final against Bayern Munich.

Even the incredible Aussie cricket team from 25 years ago suffered the odd bloody nose.

In 95/96, Hendry won the triple crown (UK, Masters, Worlds) in the same season... But I don't know how dominant he was in those?

Maybe some of the mickey mouse football leagues where one team is much bigger than all the others, e.g. Scotland.

Dominating for one year in something more physically demanding than golf might only be 1, 2 or 3 events in a year, eg boxing, athletics.

That was a fantastic year for Tiger. His dominance was also a period of years.

Someone who was comparable was Sergei Bubka.

World Championship record and the number of times he set a new world record.

He wasn't daft. There was a "reward" for setting a new world record, so he did not want to beat it by very much!
11 years competing and 29cm increase in height - nearly a foot.

Shame he became obsessed with a few other things as well 😬😉

Couple of motorsport examples but I realise they can be a special case as it's only really a level playing field against your teammate.

Nigel Mansell in 1992
14 wins (plus one second) from 16 starts
9/16 pole positions.
8/16 fastest laps.

Sebastien Ogier in 2013, 2014 and 2015
25 wins (and 6 second places) from 39 starts

Davis then hendrey in snooker. Nadal on clay. Man U under fergie, Taylor in darts.
Plenty of examples from other sports.
