Ticket reselling

I don't even bother anymore

A lot of it is a scam, you don't know who the resellers are, a lot of it is inside people making excess profits, you as a normal member of public don't have a chance.

I had to buy Rammstein tickets on Viagogo for Brussels this year. Somehow they were cheaper than they were originally sold for so I assume I got very lucky and got them from someone who'd bough with the genuine intent to go but couldn't.

When I tried to buy for Milton Keynes, it would've been about double the price of the originals. What a joke!

The law should say face value + costs to the original buyer at the max, imo.

For a previous us tour the foo fighters went back to selling them at the venue a few weeks before, no online sales at all.

I think tickets should be sold on a ballot basis, register your interest during the period of a week or so and then get drawn out of a hat. Stops the bots getting there first then.
That didn’t work that well in 2012 either. No system is perfect.

Missis T has just been looking at tickets for Take That, there are loads of tickets still unsold. Now when they range from £70 to £220 and there's only three of the original group there. Well quite frankly you can shove it.
That said, gutted am not going. ☹️

But not so gutted that you won't pay the money

Surely if you are that gutted about missing them £70 isn't that bad a price? I've turned down Fleetwood Mac tickets because of the line up and Who tickets because I'm not sure they've still got it, not gutted about either. But I've also paid around £100 each for Bon Jovi, Billy Joel & The Eagles this year, and about £140 for Rod Stewart.

If you think £70 is a bit much then I think you're a bit out of touch with the cost of tickets, and you can thank music streaming for that

I think £70 is extortionate to be sat in the cheap seats at the back, the Fact there are a shed load of tickets left tells me I am not alone on that thinking. In essence TT are struggling to sell out arenas when at one time they could sell out stadiums in a matter of hours. So much so they could add additional dates on top of that.
The gutted bit is a bit tongue in cheek. Out of interest though would you pay £70 if half of Bon Jovi or the Eagles or Take That were not there.

If all or half of Take That were playing in my back garden I'd pull the curtains and go down the pub. ;)

The Eagles are missing Glenn Frey from the most recent line up but have Deacon Frey & Vince Gill standing in, I'm happy that the Eagles sound will be authentically reproduced & I will enjoy it.

Bon Jovi have been without Richie Sambora and Alex John Such for some time, Phil Xenides & Hugh MacDonald do a perfectly capable job of standing in & I've thoroughly enjoyed them with that line up.

Fleetwood Mac have binned Lindsey Buckingham, taken on 2 other band members to replace him whilst he is still available, and are apparently playing material from those artists catalogues whilst dropping some of their own stuff. As I consider Lindsey Buckingham once of the most underrated guitarists of the modern era I'm not paying money for a sub standard act in my opinion.

It would depend which half was missing. If it was Bon Jovi without Jon Bon Jovi or Dire Straits without Mark Knopfler then no, I wouldn't part with money.

Had you not said you were gutted I wouldn't have queried not stumping up the money.

Like most of Tashyboys stories, you may have to fill in the gaps, but am sure it was AC/DC or not. Anyway I was Talking to a pal years ago and he had seen the original group and the original lead singer. Then he saw the group with the next lead singer. He was gutted at having to see an imposter taking lead role. He wasn't gutted for long.

Pretty much why I have given up on big gigs, can have a weekend away seeing a smaller artist for the cost of a couple of tickets to a stadium show. Weekend away in Brighton to see Passenger was less than £200, Pop Will Eat Itself and an overnight in Sheffied next week, about £100.

The band currently touring as Dr Feelgood has none of the 4 original members in it. I love the Feelgoods stuff from the 70s, but I find that bizarre, and have no interest in going to see them.

That's the trouble, it can be pretty costly anyway going via the legitimate route. Once the touts get involved prices get ridiculous . Tickets being sold for many times face value.

Slightly off topic, years ago I went to one of those 80s multi-group gigs - Five Star came on with only four of them and they were terrible. Between songs (the best part), someone yelled out "if I wanted four star I'd have gone to a garage". Mass laughter and one of the band members shot him the finger.

I was at Glastonbury the weekend Michael Jackson died. The news broke on the Friday night, and by Saturday morning one stall was selling "The Jackson Four" t-shirts ...
