I might be hung drawn and quartered by this post !!!

in the north west we are going to have another summer like last year , followed with the worst winter since 1963 and 10 feet of snow ...

I have just been watching a program about the weather and a forecaster who has been forecasting since forcasting began , his predictions are 75 % correct over many years

He is predcting a summer much the same as last year , nice pleasant spring , july to oct will be a wash out ,

I know its early days but this guy sounds pretty good at it .

i dont wanna really put a dampner on the summer befroe it has even begun , but it dont look good ...

Most forcasters can not even get tomorrows weather correct never mind the summer. It's the only job I know you can [****] up every day and be guaranteed your job the next.

I would love to be a weather forecaster. Apparently, if you forecast that tomorrow is going to be like today, you would be right 75% of the time, but they can't even get that right.
I have often looked at Metcheck, weather.co.uk, etc, and quite often on their hour by hour forecast, they can't even be right for the current hour. Look out the blommin window, it isn't hard to get the immediate weather right.

Well thanks for that, I was clinging to hope if anything, now I dont even have that to cling too.

I must admit, I was very impressed with todays weather report. It said it would warm up at 11, it did. Be bright till 15:00, it was. Cloudy at 16:00 it was rain tonight... it is.

4 flukes in a day :D

I'll take it as it comes. I was lucky to be off for a lot of last summer so got to pick the dry mornings/afternoons and mostly managed to dodge the rain. Got to knuckle down at work this year so only got my flexi and annual leave to add to the weekends. Still lucky to have a job so can't complain.

Nah, 2007 and 2008 were awful, we're due a decent one like 2003 or 2006 again - remember the scorched brown fairways of Hoylake!
Up where I am statistically we had a drier summer in 2008 than average, it was just because there were no spells of consistent sunshine that people think it was wet, it wasn't wet it was just cold and overcast -but still a crap summer!
England was very wet last summer but as long as the rain stays there that's ok! ;)

A bloody weak pound so no summer holidays abroad and now its going to be a crap summer in the UK...

Pass me the rope.

Mind you, last year really wasnt that bad, I generally picked the weekend day morning or afternoon which seemed the best and nine times out of ten it was ok, but 25+ degrees would be nice for a couple of months.

I didn't think last years summer was really all that bad, I got a lot of golf played (wed/sat/sun) and a few weekends away, including the boys annual Royal Deeside 45 holer. Finished the season with a good golfers tan, nice white left hand.

Was hoping to get the clubs and tent in the car this year for weekends away, wife not too keen.........

Lads , how can we be getting depressed/despondant about an event that has yet to happen and especially one that no-one can really truly predict !!!

I never get worried about something that is completely out of my hands. Let's be honest.....we have NO idea what kind of spring/summer we're going to have so why stress ourselves over an unpredictable future ?

p.s please feel free to come back to this thread and slaughter me if , by the end of september , half of the UK has been flushed away by flash floods and the other half has burnt to a cinder after the worst drought in 200 years

hi Clive , heheheyea we get more rain than most in manc lol , but last summer was the worst i can remember ever !!!! ,

where i am a member is known for being one of the dryest inland courses in the uk , the drainage system is or was awesome , it happens to be busier than most of the local club in the winter , because most will close because of the wet but this courses only ever closes on xmas day .... well apart from last summer that is .. it had rained so much club offials had to close the course for two days ,

i played soon after reopening and the course was the worst i have ever seen it , with mainy fairways featuring new ponds , one member even said he seen a carp swimming round one of these ponds . not sure how true this lol ,

The thing that makes me laugh is , i was playing in shorts and T shirt in blody janury and february last year and even managed to get a tiny bit of sun tan .... now how mad is that ????
