This girl golfs (is it being undermined?)

It's strange how people complaining golf needs to move forwards into the modern times complain about a girl using what she has to increase her coverage both for her and the sport. She is not my cup of tea (apart from being too young) but I admire how she is using social media to her own ends. Perhaps she is putting the counter arguement that girls that play golf are not just "nerdy plain Janes" ( and I mean from a youngsters perspective).

there is no right and wrong.... The conversation is: If woman are looking to be taken seriously in the "sport" then should they be using their sexuality as they deal closer? Are they a sports person or simply eye candy?!

Not 100% sure who you follow on Twitter, are you sure they are golfers;).

However I follow Carly Booth and yes she does like posting some saucy pictures. But then again she is in control of them, she knows what she is doing and to me it does not really undermine the thisgirlgolfs campaign. From watching some of the videos she did with Pete Finch she seems a really nice fun young lady and exactly the type that golf needs to shake of it's pretty poor image in respect of it being an all inclusive game for both sexes and all ages. I suspect that she would be able to hook more people that this campaign is aimed at in 5 minutes than any middle aged male golfer, no matter how many titles that have won.

Plus the media is saturated with these types of images and all young people have seen a lot worse. I fully appreciate that the campaign is not just aimed at youngish girls, but I am not so sure the majority of the market this campaign is aiming at would be bothered or think Carly is undermining the campaign. All of the that will come from crusty old middle aged sad blokes, as this thread will no doubt prove. ;)
Carly Booth is unfortunately a bit of a rubbish tour pro golfer. Hits the ball very hard, but not necessarily in the right direction, and her short game and putting are probably worse than mine from what I have seen of her. She is sponsored by Nike, so if she can't make headlines by winning golf tournaments any more (to be fair to her she has won two LET tournaments, but back in 2012), she has to keep in the public eye by her gym routines and glamour shoots.

If they are good at their sport as well as on the eye where is the problem?
Perhaps the fact that someone who has a "look" is playing sport is the more unusual thing compared to in the past.
Sport and golf in particular is a funny animal. For example, how many people changed their perception and view of T Woods, once his real life and daliances come out? I know plenty that changed opinion on him.

Rubbish tour pro ?!

She is 23 and has won twice on tour - that's a bit better than rubbish

So still plenty of this campaign running online which is great, however.......

Am i the only one that think its being completely ruined, undermined and pushed back to the 80's with constant lingerie shoots and beachwear from the likes of Carly booth and others being bombarded on twitter and other media? (followed up i might add with hundreds of replies from I assume middle aged men old enough to be her father which are on the wrong side of tasteful)

I just think its ruining what has the potential to be a great campaign.

Thoughts please...
I have to agree.

I must be one of the few who dont find her particularly attractive and thats after airbrushing and perfect lighting makeup in that photoshoot.

She (Carly) is a very 'fit' looking young lady, being an ex-gymnast and a dedicated gym bunny. Doesn't need any airbrushing! :)
