A friend of mine is in the closing stages of The Spine...268 mile non stop foot race along the Pennine Way. I have been stalking the online tracker to see how she's going and am simply in awe of how tough she is! In my day I thought I was quite the endurance tough chick but this puts anything I completed well and truly in the shade...go Anna!

The winner was just incredible. Montane have a daily video and he trotted into the very understated finish area. Reminded me of London to Brighton (on foot) which was just the same. Ultra events attract a few hardy nutcases and not much else!!

Mate finished 4th overall and 1st Senior, would be impossible to me any time of the year nevermind during the weather we've been having.

Always wanted to walk the pennine way, never mind flippin running it. I did the first 50 yards from edale when I was doin my bronze Duke of Edinburgh.
Sat in the pub with the teachers having a few pints and they said we could.

My friend's still going but many behind her have been stopped from continuing due to the deep snow...they must be gutted.

"Conditions are very tough out on the Cheviots cold, ice and deep snow; Very slow going. Unfortunately, and with regret, following discussions with the safety team we have had adjust the cut off at Byrness. This means that there will be no more runners able to leave Byrness today. We understand the heartache that this is causing."
