Great story.
Not quite in the same league, in the winter months, when I was a teenager, I would regularly go on a 4 mile run at the end of work.
The family Lab would follow me. He was a gun dog so pretty fit.
One night he just disappeared, black lab, empty beach virtually dark.
I started to panic, searched for him for a while, realised it was pointless so started to run home.
A couple of miles on I turned a corner and there he was, sitting on a path, waiting on me.
