Things That Gladden The Heart

I’m calling 🐂 💩 on this.
Call what you want bud. I work in Stafford, Kids live in Holmfirth and my home is in Hampshire. So on a Friday I Drive Staffs-Holmfirth-Home that’s a total of 298miles so that 280 Miles doesn’t cover me for that part of the journey. Then on a Sunday I do the exact reverse to drive them home and go back to work so I do 598miles of a weekend.

But you can call 🐂💩, if you like from the comfort of not having a clue what I do! I’m the one with the facts and know what journeys I do and I do them because I love my kids to bits and do what’s needed.

That being said can’t wait to start to new job and that mileage will go down to 428 round trip until the ex moves closer 🥳.

Sat in the sun in the back garden having a coffee having just cut the grass/weeds for the first time this year. The gladden part is seeing and hearing the first geese of the year flying over the house on their way back to the bird reserve from their winter migration.

Well an emotional day today! Lots to be glad about. As we’re starting the IVF again we began the day by buying Mrs M a new car in the hope of a positive outcome so that she has something with a bigger boot and more accessible that getting in and out of the Mini Cooper. Picking that up next week.

Then we drove down to Kent to see my oldest daughter. Nice bit of lunch altogether talking about our trip to Rome next, when she says “it’ll be our last holiday together before you become a Granddad for the first time “ 😳

Absolutely over the moon for her and her husband, they’re gonna be amazing parents and I’m going to have to the used to becoming a grandad for the first time and fingers crossed a Dad again all being well with Mrs M IVF.

It got a bit dusty at the table 🥺

Congratulations mate.

Hope all goes well for everyone involved.

My Mrs is a one off [married 56 years]

She had £60 of gifted Dobbies vouchers to spend.
She waits until they do 'spend £70 and get a £10 voucher deal'.
She spends forever buying a pot and some nice plants.
We get to the till and our bill comes to £70.07.
'You did well there says I'
I know says she because I even factored in the 10% discount on the club card. 😍

A few days back my (very old) fuse board blew.
Partial lack of power points so, amongst many things, no boiler and ..... no TV, no Internet.
Next day we have the grandkids.
I explained the situation. They simply looked at each other and sat there bewildered as if they'd been teleported to the Middle Ages. 😱
Twenty minutes later, after exploring, the living room is bursting with laughter as they've discovered........ Twister!
Then... they asked for drawing paper and pencils!
It was absolutely lovely to watch and reminded me that, so often, the reason kids sit independently with electronics is that they're simply left to.

Pack them in potted meat.
Works for my dog.
I also have another treat in my hand so he wolfs the tablet down.
Works for my dog too, but the cats lick round them and leave them in the bowl, so I have to use a pill dispenser. But even when my wife wraps them up in a towel, they usually find a way to get the claws working! :(

Very gently get the scruff of their neck. Auto limp switch for them. It’s what we need to do to brush our fat cat’s teeth. Just totally disables them, royally pisses them off like, but works.

My inner child can’t stop giggling at this. Some bright spark in the Royal Navy chain of command has decided they all need the letters RN immediately after their rank with their trade specification in their email addresses so you can establish which branch of the military you’re emailing.

My childish delight is now everytime I email a Royal Navy Petty Officer in that their email address now always comes up as PO RN 😂

Even better is one of the lads I communicate with is a PO RN Seaman Specialist Trade 😂.

I wonder how long till they realise that was a bad idea 😂

Early internal email systems like SperryLink used to create user names using first initial and first three letters of surname.

Francis Uckfield used to raise a smile... I am sure there were others!
Worked with a lad called Robert Searle. Computer printed output concatenating initial of first name with full surname…quite. Made me smile every time I saw his output…hmmm 🤔
