Anybody watch this tonight?

Only a short 20 minute film but it is the most compelling film I've seen for a long time. It makes you want to scream and leaves you feeling so very sad for the beautiful little deaf girl. Her Mother and family just do not understand anything about deafness and how to deal with it.

The film was made to raise awareness and I think its certainly succeeded on that front. Little Maisie played the part so well - her facial expressions said a thousand words. No wonder the Film itself has recently won an Oscar.

Absolutely brilliant!

Agreed, but in this case it was the lack of knowledge and foresight from the Parents!

Not just lack of knowledge or foresight as clearly the parents (the father was not her actual 'father') were portrayed as thinking that they were far too busy, in fact being totally wrapped up in themselves, to spend the time learning sign language. The child 'mastering' lip-reading being so much easier - for them...what was the point they'd argue - their child was never going to live a fulfilling and productive life.
