Only 4 days to go before the biggest sporting event of the year (in my eyes anyway!)

I still can't decide who to back. I was fancying Garcia even before Woods pulled out, but at odds of 10-1 I'm a bit wary.

Jimenez and Westwood should also be in the mix, but I'm not convinced they have it in them to win it.

Possible outside bets on Anthony Kim or Paul Lawrie..........

I got money on Westwood, Larrazabal and Leonard, beginning to regret that now, apart from Leonard who I think will do ok.

Garcia has to be worth a punt with his new found putting confidence - he has the talent and experience.
Harrington will doubtless fare well again. Graeme McDowell has good form and a links background.

Just hope some nobody 'cinderalla story' doesn't win again - Hamilton, Curtis etc.

I am not backing anyone this year; without Woods the Open is wide open. IMHO, the value bets might appear after the cut.

Certainly no Todd Hamilton or Ben Curtis type winners, please.

Justin Leonard for Top American would certainly be worth a punt.

Geoff Ogilvy is another who is usually fancied at the Open although I don't think he's played much of late.

I thought that McDowell was majestic over the weekend at Loch Lomand and in complete control, however I don't think anyone has ever won the Scottish Open and then gone on to claim the big one the following week.

My money is on Steward Cink. Solid 2008 season, decent open record, right age and right game for links golf.

Another candidate is M-A Jimenez. If you look for an outsider: Greg Bourdy or Charles Howell III.

I'm in the Jiminez camp too, got him at 45/1 with Paddy's this morning, now only 33s in most places.

Savers on Cabrera & McDowell, and a sentimental bet on Lawrie as he was still at 225/1, which is way too big, but I don't really think he'll contend unless the weather roughens up a bit.

Otherwise, I would like to see Garcia do it finally, and fancy Adam Scott although haven;t backed him with cold hard cash.

I am as confident about Jiminez as I was for my Masters bets, so if that's anything to go by he'll miss the cut.

If I were a betting man I'd say Justin Leonard or Lee Westwood.

But since I'm not, and I have the luck of the old chap on the Fast Show, I've just jinxed those two!!

Sorry

Martin Kaymer and Robert Karlsson would make a good double I reckon. I feel that there are too many players who will/ could contend so I am unwilling to decide who to back as yet.
