The flame powered fridge

Just watching the excellent Back in Time For Dinner and it's sparked off a distant boyhood memory.

I hope that someone may corroborate this. Our first (rented) fridge was gas-powered and required an actual pilot light to keep burning to make sure the interior remained chilled.

Now I havent imagined this...have I?
