I've been invited to a stag do for my brother's mate. £269 for one round on Brabazon, one round on PGA, room and meals included.

Should I?

I'm a bit of a hacker but even now this is the stuff of dreams.

Not that I'm a fan of The Belfry anyway.

The guys aren't massive drinkers, it'd definitely be a fine dining and fairly serious golfing affair.

We get the same deal in March for £99, I know the course isnt in as good condition then but its an absolute bargain and well worth £99 of anyone's money.

Would I pay £269 for the same deal in the summer months? I dont think I would

We played there a week or so ago on PGA and Derby; PGA was in fantastic condition with wonderful greens (albeit not much sand in teh bunkers); Derby was much better than reviewes suggested - a good enjoyable course. Loved the PGA though.

Belfry food was great, especially breakfast.

Swimming pool, squash courts etc very good. The ladies like the spa.

Very good overall i thought.

Also £30 for 2 dozen Titleist NXT .

Not a huge fan of the Belfry but it was nice to tick the Brabazon off the played list but I wouldn't rush back unless there was another GM do

we had a national rail staff comp there a couple of years ago which i jumped at as it was the belfry. i loved the courses and maybe it was because im a high handicaper but i enjoyed the national to the brabazon

Wow, that's a lot cheaper! How did you get that deal?

Have a look on their website around January/February next year, if its not on the website, ring them and ask if they are doing the £99 deal and they'll sort you out.

I played it 2 summers ago, a couple of months before the british masters i think, and it was excellent, a tough but fair challenge.

£269 for a round of golf on the Brabazon plus hotel seems very overpriced to me.

You can get much better golf than the Belfry for that kind of money. I would suggest finding a 5* B&B in a Surrey village near-ish the A30. Play golf at Sunningdale (or the Berkshire/Walton Heath/Hankley/St Georges Hill etc etc.), eat in the area and then decamp to Spearmint Rhino at Colnbrook! About the same kind of cost (excluding dancing dollars of course!) and you will have a much better time both on and off the course. Just the job for a golf stag trip!

Belfry is fine but not great. Greens were lovely there last month though.....

The guy whose getting married has always wanted to play the Belfry I think, and I don't mind paying a bit extra for him. Should be a great weekend.
