Just been watching a re-run of the Sky coverage of last nights PGA Tour event The Shriners. With three men going into a play off and the light fading fast and after three holes no-one coming out in front, Jonathan Byrd stepped up and holed his tee shot at the 205 yd par3 17th hole. What a way to do it.

Bit of a bummer for the other two who had still to tee off, Martin Laird and Cameron Percy.

:D :D

Saw it last night and nearly fell off the sofa. Excellent reaction too.... he didn't even realise that he'd holed it as it was so dark :)

Yip fairly awesome way to win a play off although I think Laird will be kicking himself today, 3 operchancities to win 3 missed putts!

The commentators were saying last night that Laird puts his (relatively) poor putting down to being Scottish and unable to practice putting in the winter months? :D Sounded a load of bollocks to me.

He should ditch the belly putter and man up.

I totally disagree with you TBH.

I am quite confident that I would be a better golfer than a 5 handicaper if I lived and practiced in a sunshine state like California all my days instead of having to put the clubs away for the majority of December, January, February and sometimes longer.

I like Laird am also confident that I would have a better putting stroke if I didn't have to play on hollow cored, sanded wet soggy greens where a hit and hope putt is the best you can hope for unless you are lucky enough to be at a decent links layout where the greens are usually in a slighly better condition.

Convenient excuse? Possibly, Element of truth? Definitely!

Well I totally disagree with that - your putting is and still would be as bad as the smell from a tinkers rucksack son, even playing in California!

That is incredible. I remember many moons ago, me and my buddy finished 3 1 in a doubles match to win 2 and 1. I eagled the 16th and he holed it for an ace on 17.
