Hi All,

I am visiting Tenerife in April and am planning on getting 4 rounds in. I am taking my own clubs and will have a hire car. Any suggestions on where I should play? Any pointers in the directions of a good deal would also be appreciated as it doesnt look the cheapest!

Thanks :)

This months GM has a piece about the Canaries - I guess its as good advice as you'll get. Haven't played any of the Tenerife course but can certainly recommend Tecina on La Gomera. There's plenty of people get the catamaran across to play it - but does depend on whether they've got the new "cat" yet which goes all the way to Playa Santiago like the old one used to.

Costa Adeje, once home to the tenerife womens open IIRC

Not a bad track, interesting due to it being built on a plantation so there are stone walled levels everywhere. Reduces sloping lies I guess :D

I second that :) Wen I went to Tenerife last summer I saw the track and It really looked great. Didn't get to try it out because of family commitments. but it really looked heavenly. Just check out the pics on their website: http://www.golfcostaadeje.com/en_reservas.htm. I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun there.

Especially that Tenerife is such a lovely place. I just cant believe sometimes that I still live in the UK when there are wonderful places like Tenerife out there... I always tell myself that it's either New Zealand or Tenerife when I retire. A piece of advice for you: Take your most comfortable shoes with you. Walking around the island is an awesome experience even when you're not really a hiker (I'm usually the kind of a guy who usually limits his hiking only to the golf course :P)

Also, this video has some tips you won't find easily on the web:
So yeah, enjoy your stay in Tenerife and know that I'm dying of jealousy here:) The pace of their lives is completely different to here and soon enough you'll see what I mean. Everything there seems to be so much more relaxed. Even the B&B owners in Tenerife approached everything my crazy family threw at them wit such a positive attitude. Even when my kids trashed the kitchen, Mr. Torres just kept his cool and called in a cleaner for us.

I don't know, it just seems to be a different world altogether :) enjoy your stay :)

We go twice a year, depends on your budget. Abama is the best course out there but the greens are brutal! It is worth the expense to experience it once though, there is free water, fruit, etc.. on certain holes which helps. The clubhouse is superb.

Adeje is well worth a visit, as is La Gomera. We play these 3 and Las Americas, which for some reason, I prefer to the Adeje but my friends prefer Adeje. Prices will be around 90 euros for these 3, Abama was 150 euros as we pre-booked, it is normally 200.

I agree with all above comments but would add that Golf De Sur is worth a miss. Pretty run down in comparison with the others.
