Hi folks, need a bit of help please.

My uni are wanting to do a live stream of an event. I'm aware of periscope, but I had no idea that this only ran on smartphones (seems daft to me).

Anyway, can anyone recommend, preferably a mac-friendly, software solution?

Adobe connect may be our best bet, as it can incorporate slides and camera in a split-screen way (perfect for our needs).

Also, any tips about using external mics/cameras as we want the sound/video quality to be good.

I know Mark Crossfield does a really good periscope show, with graphics and all kinds of stuff, flipping between two macbooks- how the hell does he do this when periscope is only available via smartphone app?!?!

Would appreciate as much help as anyone can offer.

im not very up to speed with it but a lot of gamers, poker players etc use twitch to broadcast live, definitely works on a desktop, might be worth a look

Guy I know does a lot of this for Pool events (8 ball). Don't know anything about the software but he uses livestream.com to broadcast his coverage. Maybe if you contact them as the hosting company they could advise? It would presumably be in their interest to get more streams on board.

You could try ustream.tv as their software works on Mac. Livestream is good but is Windows only so far.

twitch is very very game centric. I wouldn't put commercial/academic stuff there, you'll just get torrents of abuse from idiots.
