Work golf day today at Studley Wood, I have been looking forward to it for months. I was with my boss and CEO of the company, a very successful man and many times a millionaire. He has always been very good to me but today I really wanted to quit my job because of his behaviour.

On the first hole he asked us "shall we cheat as I am not very good?" we laughed it off and cracked on. Stop at our ball in our buggy and WACK he drives into the back of us. He did so every time we stopped for the next 4.5 hrs Top Gear style, never got old. He drove over our balls, through balls at us as we tee'd off, did donuts over and over on the fairway, mixed all the clubs from one players bag to another, stole my putter so I had to putt with a wedge, beached the buggy in bogs....

"Alex how come you practice every night and you are so ****?"

I was/am pig sick, never seen anything like it in my life! The things that went through my head in those 4 hrs were crazy black and damaging to my game and work life. I am not sure I can ever respect him again.

:o:o

Powerless to stop it.... That's the bit that really spins my head. He took something sacred to be and crapped all over it!

Sorry to make a cry post but I had to clean my mind.

That's bad stuff there mate

The only consolation you can take is that he doesn't understand Golf or Golfers

Shame it spoilt your day, perhaps you need to point out the error of his ways, he may be so upset when he realises , he may give you a pay rise

Fragger

I dont blame you he sounds a complete prat, did he just do it cos he was the boss and knew no one would complain, you should have risked it and told him where to get off.

Sounds like you are quite right to come on here and have a moan, at least you're moaning to people who will feel your pain, and I do. I had a "friend" who played off 9 and was a complete dick most times we played, one night almost rolling a golf cart with me in it. I wasn't best pleased.

You know what he's like for next time so you can make your excuses and not play. The bloke sounds like a complete prat and shouldn't be allowed out on a golf course again. I'd have "gone to the toilet" and had a quiet word with the pro and got him to give the bloke a bollocking saying that they'd had complaints about him but not dropping you in it.

Nothing like having time you've been looking forward to ruined! From what you've said sounds like he thinks he's the dogs bits. Sorry your day was wasted!

Sounds like he was deflecting from his total inadequecies by being a complete d!ck. Have a stiff whisky and reflect in the knowledge you are a better man than him.

Sounds like he was under the influence of drink or drugs but there is no excuse for spoiling everyone elses enjoyment. Golf is a difficult enough game without that sort of performance.

I feel sorry for your position. Keep calm and keep under control otherwise it could be messy.

The strangest thing is I owe this guy a great deal, he has been instrumental in moving me forward as a person, mentally and financially but I did wonder today, at what cost? Sitting eating after with a room full of salesmen on there phones at the table... It just ate me up.

A while ago we went Karting as a company. one upon a time as a younger man I was a works team kart racer and then 12 years as a race director. I kind of owned them all finishing four laps ahead of second place... I wonder if today was a reaction to that?

Forgive my bluntness but the guy sounds like a prize prick!!!

I have played with our company CEO on the last 2 society days and he IS a true gentleman on and off the course. Very polite, respectful and follows the spirit of the game. Complements a good shot, and rips the mick out of a poor one :smirk:

On both previous society days he has picked up the bar bill and covered cost of both meals!

Just shows the money can't buy certain thing in this world.

Sorry Alex but you owe the guy nowt. Every employee is an asset of the business until such time as they stop hitting the performance levels expected. MD's only give you what you 'earn' and usually long after you've earned it.

I can see why you are so upset. The guy sounds like a prize knob but jobs aren't that easy to come by these days. I've been trying to think what I would have done in the same situation, I'd like to think I'd have told him to stop being such a **** but who knows.

I feel for you but you owe him nothing, if moving to a new job is an option I would be seriously considering right now but only you know the situation and what is right for you.

you are trying to rationalise irrational behaviour - that way lies more madness!

Forget it. You did what you had to do to get through the day. Forget it and don't play with him next time. I wouldn't be surprised if there weren't complaints to the club by others on the course anyway

That's a good idea, why not write to the club complaining about his behaviour, claiming to be someone else??

It was a company day, get over it. Hardly the monthly medal. I had a litre of sunflower oil poured down the inside of my golf bag at the pub outing.

Couldn't hold onto a club all day. Some days its best to just enter the spirit of the day.

Hahahaha OMG how did you deal with that one.

I do think people me to lighten up on the course, but there is a line. And damaging the course, is a big No No IMO. But swapping clubs about, is just kids play.

smacks of insecurity to me , topdog in an environment where he isnt topdog, the only way he can be topdog is to remove the situation he cant be topdog at, playing golf.
(i've had a few!)
