Sunset in Scotland

What I find astonishing about the west coast sunsets from Ayr is the midwinter sun sets on Ailsa Craig and midsummer sun sets on Goat Fell [Arran].
My wife is a keen photographer and has captured some great Scottish sunsets, best one is looking up Loch na Keal on Mull.

Ive two oil paintings painted from the same place differnt light from an old golfing pal. Will post pictures soon. Different light, bloody love it in ayrshire
 
Two from me...

a. One of the best days of my life, on Skye. Spent most of the day scrambling over the summits of the Cuillin mountains (Sgurr Dearg to Bruach na Frithe if you're interested) the popped round to Sconser for 18 holes (starting at about 6:30 pm). Stunning scenery all day. Then heading back to base we passed the end of Loch Harport at about 10:30 and the view was so amazing we just had to stop. The sky was awash with pastel colours - pinks through violet and purple - and reflected perfeclty in the glass-like surface of the loch. We leaned on the fence & watched the colours slowly fade for about half an hour. Mate l was with then turned and said "Kill me now. If l live to 100 I'll never see finer than that". I know what he meant.

b. Skye again. Once spent the night on the summit of the Cuillin. Watched the sun set in the west and before it got fully dark out west it was getting light in the east. Ok l know that if you go up near the arctic circle it doesn't get dark - but weird when you see it in the UK.

Lovely picture. Reminds me of working up in Scotland a few years ago. Used to play golf in the evening at Cardross and drive back down to my digs over the Erskine Bridge usually just as the sun was setting. Great views out to the west.
