Summerhouses

The missus got a summerhouse a couple of years back and at the time we looked into the self assembly options but eventually got one from a local company who sell wooden outbuildings and who have a very good reputation.
It was a bit more expensive but delivered and built and if ( God forbid ) we ever move house they'll dismantle it and transport and build it within 10 miles free.

Methinks it looks a bit flimsy

Methinks you're right Phil.

Styrene glazing (better than polythene I suppose), no floor, less than 1/2" thick t & g cladding (how do they machine it that thin?), oh, and the "mineral surfaced felt" roof covering is "free" - whopee. No expense spared there then. Looking at the picture of the roof, it has probably blown off in today's breeze.

I'll admit that I know virtually nothing about summerhouses specifically - apart from watching my neighbour having one installed. I suppose that you and Ian will have a day or two spare to erect the thing. I was in the building trade for a significant part of my working life and, like anyone who has expertise in any particular field, I know that you get what you pay for.

It really depends on what HID thinks she wants it for. My neighbour and his wife virtually never use it. Their 2 teenage girls open it up a few times a year when having parties :(:(:(

I'd just voice my doubts and let HID make the decision. It will still be your fault though if it doesn't turn out as expected.

Best of luck :D

Fragger
we had to buy a new garden shed last year, and I spent ages on-line and browsing the local big DIY stores trying to find a good quality one.
In the end I kept coming back to this company...

Going by reviews we purchased from them and have been absolutely delighted with our shed. Really good build quality, and very easy to put up (notice I didn't use the word erect).....;)
Looks like they have got a decent range of Summerhouses.
During my search of sheds the name "Billy-Oh" came up a few times but the quality of them didn't seem anywhere near as good as Tiger sheds mate.

I've nothing to add - I just wanted to say that it's nice to see you posting again Leftie

Bought one similar few years back & just sold it on, now't wrong with them for what they cost

It's not as good quality as some 6x the price but I didnt want to live in it!

They're easily fit for purpose, had mine 5 years & it didn't fall down around me and with cat flap fitted it gave the moggies somewhere to go in winter/rainy days

Bought our 8x8 shed from garden buildings direct last year and it's of good quality. I was pleasantly surprised in fact.
I opted for no floor and put one together myself and it only took 3 hours to put it all together.

Laing.

About 5 years I got 'The Hay Way' from Cummnock to build one for my mother on the East Coast. They did a superb job and my Mum lives in it during the summer. I think it cost around £ 1,300, very sturdy has stood up well to the last few years winter gales.
Was it the same company that you used?

think my mother paid about 1500 (12 years ago)they design and build it think it was a company either fae springside or newmilns. its still going strong although its had a new roof, new doors new floor new walls new windows. but as i say its still standing like new!!!
being serious well built and will last another 12 years, the one your looking at fragger a night on the guinness i would blow that hut down.

No mate, it was Milligans of Hurlford we got it from. Very good quality and service.

There is a place in Barrmill as well that does huts and summerhouses.

All this talk about summer houses.

Just think. Summer solstice is only 8 weeks away and then it's all downhill to Christmas. Still, looking on the bright side, the drought orders might have been revoked by then.
