In the last few weeks we have had some strange unwanted visitors in the house.

Started a couple of weeks ago with a cat strolling into my office. It belongs to a neighbour and is often hanging around the garden. Not too unusual but the start of a trend. Week later and a fox appeared in our lounge. Very quickly shown the door.

Today a perhaps rarer sight in the house. A great spotted woodpecker in the kitchen. It was trying to fly through a closed window. The bird often feeds off our bird table, but is very timid, and the slightest movement and it flys off. Amazing that such a shy bird would come in the house, and fortunately decided not to peck its way out through the window.

Will definitely stop leaving the back door open from now on.

Anyone else had any unwanted visitors of the animal kind in the house ?

A friend of mine once found a fox on their bed in their ground floor flat. Apparently it stinks like hell.

Had a grass snake wander in. Buggering thing got underneath the freezer until it was gently coaxed out. The dog just sat there and watched it

A ferret. It wandered in, then back out. 5 minutes later it was back, at which point I got it into the cat’s travel box. Turned out to belong to a guy a few doors away. Dutifully returned in exchange for a slab of Stella...

A rat in the lounge, a green budgie behind the gas fire having slowly fluttered down the chimney, and a buzzard in the conservatory. He was quite impressive but I wasn't allowed to keep him. Also had a big cow which turned up occasionally but that was just the ex mother-in-law.

We have had a couple of Blue Tits and the odd sparrow and last year a bat. But my neighbour had a pine marten in his kitchen last week.

Nothing spectacular in the house apart from mice, but on Tuesday we had this young buzzard visit us...

Forgot to add, a horse in the kitchen. Sister gave the reins to mum whilst she went to the bathroom. Mum wasn't keen on horses so took a step back. Horse took a step forward, and mum took another step back, and horse took another step forward.... repeat, repeat, repeat....

Once had a big hairy beastie in my bathroom, calm as you like in the bath, didnt even flutter an eyelid when I bore down on him.

TBF, Stu C is completely house trained, and done a fine job of fitting my shower, as well.

Do I win?

I used to have a Jack Russell who once chased a badger into my house!
Thankfully, he chased him out almost immediately, but for a couple of minutes it was like WWIII in my house.
