There has been a fair amount of folk calling Paul Casey for being a knobber recently but peoples opinions may change a touch after this fine gesture.

English golfer Paul Casey donates his £20,000 winnings from the inaugural PowerPlay Golf event at Celtic Manor to the English Golf Union in recognition of their help during his amateur career, reports the Press Association. "I had great support from the EGU when I was coming through the ranks as a junior, so I am very happy to help them with their player development programme," said Casey.
 
It's a good story.

He's made £6,000,000 over the years, so it's small change, but a nice gesture nonetheless.

Not really it's not like he is short of a few bob being the multi millionaire that he is. It's a bit like me givivng over a tenner, or you coughing up 5k :D
 
That's the equivalent of me donating 20p. Fair play he didn't have to do it but in the time it took him to write the cheque he probably earnt it back in interest.

Being a knob is not cured by the odd gesture of generosity it's how you treat people on a day to day basis and I've personally seen him in "total knob mode" on the course, so my opinion doesn't change

there has always been something about Casey that I don’t like, I can’t quite put my finger on it. He does come across as being a tad snobbish and golf eliteist.
 
He's got that smug grin of his like he's thinking everyone else is a bunch of idiots. He also answers some questions in a very sarcastic way , I just dont warm to the guy although i've never met him. You can only judge people on what you see though and he doesnt float my boat
 
Even knobs are capable of occasional gestures of humility or generosity. Although giving it to promote golf doesn't exactly feed many starving babies in the third world.
