Can't stick the fella.
the way he throws his arms up and screams like he's been shot 4 or 5 times every match.
for some reason he's never mentioned when the know all pundits mention divers (is it because a lot of them are ex liverpool?) and he's one of the worst for it.

Yes as a devout long standing Liverpool fan today was a great day.
Watched match of the day about 6 times.
Rooneys face was a picture after his hatred comments!!

When we play the big teams like Man U,Real Madrid,Chelsea etc were great because those teams come to have a go and win.

Its against the might of Stoke,Fulham,West ham,Man City etc when they just defend and we just struggle to break them down.
Very Frustrating but if I was manageing those teams I would do the same.

Man U have broken those teams down and that is why they have the gap they do at the top right now

gerrard is not in the same leauge as lampard, as a player or person. like it has been said if he did not play for the s..te side of liverpool or was foreign, he would be pilloried by every paper and all fans and pundits who do not wear red coloured glasses, for his blatent cheating and insesent whinging. name one good performance for england.

As I have said, Im no Liverpool fan but if I wanted a bucket load of goals and creation of goals from a player, season after season and had a choice between Lampard and Gerrard, the choice would not be difficult in that respect.

When did this thread turn into a SG v FL debate?
Well Hey its all about opinions on here.

Mine is that I wouldnt swap Gerrard for Lampard in a month of sundays, just no comparison for me although I do acknowledge Frank is a top player.

I have never seen anyone single handidly turn the fortunes of his whole team when there in the mire like Stevie G does.

Istanbul (weve won it 5 times) and the West Ham FA Cup final are fine examples of this along with many others.

As for England I agree he does not recreate his Liverpool form in an England shirt but Lampard is bloody awful as well along with Rooney until the recent Croatia game.

Ive got a funny feeling that Stevie and Frank will be going head to head AGAIN in the champs league quarter final after the draw on Friday. If we get an away draw for the 1st leg I fancy us to beat anyone over 2 legs in europe.

i do admit that the final in Istanbul is a perfect example of Super Stevie G.

drags his team back into the match, but just when time was running out he takes a massive dive for a penalty and not a word was said about it!

The guy is a habitual diver, as bad as any foreign player currently in the Prem.

Type "Gerrard diving" into youtube there are some truly funny/embarrasing clips.

Yeah and im sure there as many Ronaldo ones as well.

I think this just comes down to who you support.

It would never happen obviously but if Gerrard was to sign for Man U or Rooney for Liverpool then thoughts would change because they are helping your team win football matches.

Not for me. I hate divers, whatever team they play for. I support Arsenal, and Eboue is a disgrace. So was Reyes. They aren't the worst in the league, but they are in my team, and that makes it worse.

Owen was a diver too, and you never heard much of him cheating either. It seems if you are English, the press leave you alone.

Shearer didn't dive, but he was a cheating so and so too. All elbows. National hero though. Why?

Not really.
I was a big fan of Dalglish, Souness, McDermott, McMahon, Grobbelaar, Hansen, Rush (I could go on) and many other class Liverpool players over the years.
It's not about him being a scouser it's about him as a person a player and a supposed role model.

Waste of time putting them links there pal.

Im not going to degenerate this thread into something it was never meant to be.If he wasnt so good no one would be that bothered but he is very high profile because of his play on the pitch.

Your entitled to your opinions but were never going to agree and this thread will rumble on going no where so for me it ends here.

Like I said before for me he is the best midfielder in the world by far and I wouldnt swap him for ANYONE!!!!.

no ones denying he's good Alchemy (at least i'm not anyway).
but the fact remains he's a massive cheat that never gets pulled or criticised for it.

Is this Gerrard debate about his value as a player in the form of results or as a person?

Personally I think he is a cocky cheating player and an ass outside the game. But who in todays game isn't a cheat? They all cheat so much these days its second nature to them all.

As far as results go who can question him regardless of how those results came about?

Would that be a statement that could be termed as a 'sweeping generalisation' by chance....

Football is getting more and more like egg chasing everyday....

So why do so many keep trying to break the shell all the time when they think no ones looking?
Why do so many keep aggressively challenging authority decisions?(even if they are guilty they still do it, its a sign of wanting to get away with it or to intimidate and its all part of the cheat culture)Generalising to you it may be but its generally true.

8 out of 10 footballers will shirt pull for example, why is that? I played footy till I was 45 and never once pulled a shirt, I never needed to maybe I was good enough to beat them without or maybe I wasn't a cheat. but shirt pulling is now hardly ever diciplined compared to occasions it happens. thats just one minor area of this beautiful cheating game. ;)

hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha....quite possibly the funniest comment i've ever read on a forum anywhere ever!!!

If you want to alter your post slightly to be more specific to Gerrards position then fair enough, but without question you cannot seriously believe that he is a better midfielder than Messi??? Or even Kaka for that matter???

C'mon Alchemy, take off your rose tinted spectacles and get a grip!
