We're headed not far away for a weeks holiday at the beginning of April. Seen as Spain's No.1 course is on the doorstep I'm thinking it'd be rude not too...

So has anyone advice on booking, club rentals, buggy needed? and stuff I really should know

muchas gracias

^^see what I did there^^ :)

Hi Dave. Glad to see you won the second day at RSG - well played lad.

Haven't played this one, but whenever I play in Spain buggies have been compulsory.

I'm hoping to swing by Formby next Tuesday - Guess thats in your neck of the woods?

Cheers

Yeah working in Formby this week mate. Its a great track, much better than Hillside! :D

First couple of holes are straight forward enough, then it opens up to be a beaut. You're in for a treat.

RSG was a doddle playing in that weather....

not sure when you're up here, but we have a game going on a Monday afternoon at the local muni. Nowhere near Formbys standard but good enough if you've a bit of spare time. More than welcome

i wish I could but I'm only coming up on the Tuesday. Next time I'll give you some more notice so we can get another top 100 in!

play well

Hi Dave,

I played there 3 years ago, it is a stunning golf course. It is well worth making sure you get there early to enjoy the practice facilities and to get used to how quick the greens are. They were at 12.5 when we played.

The course gets very busy and if you want to use trolleys or buggies (not compulsory) it is essential to book them as they run out quickly. We used our own clubs but the clubs for hire were complete bags of taylormade clubs (it was still Rocketballz I believe at the time).

Depending on your fitness levels I would suggest that you need a trolley as it is a decent walk particularly between some of the tees. having said that I carried as they had run out of trolleys and found it ok. We didn't bother with buggies and were glad we didn't as due to how busy course was it was a 5 hour round so the walk was nice and had no trouble keeping up with the pace of play rather than getting to your ball quickly in a buggie.

I know 5 hours is a long time for a round of golf but given the setting, the quality of the course and how much fun we were having I really didn't mind or particularly notice, just got used to the pace and adapted to it.

It is definitely a place I intend to go back to with my son now he is old enough to enjoy it.
