Has anybody tried entering into the daily ballot and any idea what the chances are of being picked?

Nope, got on through the advanced booking system. Applied last September to play this October. Mates of mine tried last year with no luck, so think you just have to be lucky. Singles seem to have a lot more chance.

I may be mistaken but I am sure that Paul_Stewart did this a year or so ago, if you PM him I am sure he will let you know how he got on.

Done it twice through the ballot.. it's just luck.
First time we got on the first day we tried, second time we were up the first day we didnt get it but tried the day after and got on.
Just plan to try for a few days and have a backup plan to play elsewhere in case you don't get on.

Yeah I looked at the advance booking form but I was 2 weeks too late. Its my Dads 60th in November and would love to treat him to a round.
Just been back on the site and they are changing it to 48 hours notice next year instead of 24 so much better for organising a trip.

We were up there last month, went in the ballot and didn't make it. We played the New Course instead, which was also an excellent outing.

A mate and I were up there at the end of August. We applied both days with no joy.
We had a tee time booked on the Eden though which was still excellent.
We also played at Lundin Links, which for my money is the best course I've played, so I'd recommend heading out there if you get a chance.

I'm off there 11th and 12th Oct and have got a deal for £125 for the Old and the Jubilee!
