Ladies Presidents prize this morning and i was struggling with all areas of my game for a bit.....Our 7th and 12th fairways run parallel to each other and i was standing on the Par 5 12th with the Big stick in hand.....A left to right wind slightly into us and i was aiming as usual down the left edge of the fairway when i walloped one that started about 30 yards right of my target line.....Wind assisted it started veering towards the 7th fairway at which point my 3 playing partners and I let the preverbial "Fore" go as we always do.....

I knew that there was a good chance that there was going to be players out there as most groups were mixed with 2 men and 2 ladies so it was the ladies tee box that was worrying me.....
Off we went and true to form there was a four ball up there...I made my way up and apologized only to be met with a pretty cranky expression from all 4...(2 men and 2 women).

When i said sorry i was told that the ball had landed 6 ft away from one of them and at no point did they here the Fore call...
Now this i sarcastically laughed at to which point i said "In fairness...All 4 of us shouted 4 collectively".....Half the course must have heard the shout...
I was slightly wound at this point as they kept telling me that they didnt hear any shout....
So i just replied well im sorry for the error and also if ye happen to be passing specsavers it might do ye no harm to drop in and get a hearing test....And i plodded off on my merry way.

Suffice to say it my round went a bit awry after the episode as i left it get to me a bit....
If i hadn't shouted fore i would have held my hand up.....BWTF?

So because you shouted they must have heard? Been in many situs where we have shouted and other groups havent heard and vice versa. Why did you need the supposedly clever quip about specsavers - hardly does anything to improve your, or their, games and the enjoyment of

I'm actually partially deaf and quite often don't hear anyone shout fore.

It just makes me more aware of people on other fairways etc.

That's the problem with deaf people you see.....they don't look any different....

An example that proves shouting fore sometimes makes no difference.
You should always shout but there are times when it won't be
heard.
And you wonder why people get hit at Pro events...

You did your bit Kid. At the end of the day if you'd hit someone you'd still be liable but at least you shouted.

One of those things. Apologise for being over there, play back to your own hole and move on. If they make a comment as they did, smile politely and carry on. As you found if you get involved, it gets under your skin and the game goes west

Well Fundy to be honest.....I was as nice as i could have been to a point until they blatantly said they heard no Fore....And pressed the point....No amount of apologies were going to make the situation any better...I did all i could...But they were adimant on tell me they heard nothing...Now i will give almost anyone the benefit of the doubt but dont belittle me or speak down to me in front of your playing buddies and try and persuade me i didnt shout fore.....If one had shouted it they may have an argument....But for 4 grown men to roar Fore Right.....Im sorry but unless your totally deaf some people just choose not to acknowledge the fact that a ball my
ay be coming their way!

Thats what annoyed me more though Homer.....I did all i could........I would have kept going had they not pushed the issue....
I was wrong they were right i held my hand up and said sorry but it didnt seem to be enough.
