What a very interesting weekend of golf on both sides of the pond.

Phil shooting a fantastic 64 to win leaving the TW fans left wanting and in Europe, the somewhat surprising victory over Lee Westwood coming from Rafael Cabrera-Bello winning his second European Tour event.

So on Facebook this morning, the question asked by GM towers is not about the European Tour and not even about Phil Mickleson.....but

How many Majors will Tiger end up winning

I know he's a big story but is there really nothing else to talk about today?

I'll agree whole-heartedly with Bob on this one.

It strikes me as amazing that questions such as, "Is this a one-off or will Cabrera-Bello seize the chance?" or, "Is big Phil going to make inroads back to glory?" etc. remain unasked, while Tiger, who didn't even make top 5, gets the headline?

Have to agree, 'how many majors will Tiger win' really is a bit of a lazy, stock question with little relevance to the weekend's headlines.

I suppose if it was worded to ask how your views have changed following his final round yesterday it may have some bearing but there were far bigger stories from yesterday to ask about.

I watched the press conference with Phil live on the PGA website last night, and although they did ask questions about other stuff, the majority were about Tiger. To be fair to Phil he was gracious and answered them all happily. But I just thought how disrespectful.

Even Phil had to mention that it was Charlie Wi who was out in front and not just a Tiger v Phil shootout.

I suppose GM are just doing the same???

Spot on Bob. It's time the media moved on from all this 'Tiger Woods is / isn't back' malarky. It's very disrespectful to those players who deserve the limelight for what really matters - the golf! It's getting boring now. Until Woods actually wins something it's a non-story in my opinion. Mickleson played some superb golf yesterday but hasn't had anywhere near enough credit for it. Rant over!

Anyone read the tip on driving in GM this month. "To be consistent hit the driver on the DOWN stroke and don't worry if you take a divot after hitting the ball"
Am I missing something? Always thought you swept the ball off the tee on the upstroke. .

Depends who you listen to

Perhaps...

Tiger Woods = highly searched web term = increased web page hits = increased advertising revenue for GM

 Can't blame them. They need to make money like the rest of us I suppose.

Yes guess it will be something to do with that.

Its like football and Suarez thing, rather than a weekend talking about Utd's win, Everton's win and Leeds losing (LOL) its all about him not shaking Evra's hand.

On balance, I quite like Tiger and hope he gets back to his best or near to it. The signs are encouraging and even when he was struggling yesterday you could see he still has a great competitive spirit with his chip in and some great putts as well.

However, the story yesterday was an amazing round by Phil, a man who so far this season has played like he had no idea where each shot might go. The way he responded to that brief surge from Tiger - holing a couple of huge putts himself and generally scaring the pin with most approach shots was fantastic. If you'd asked me a week ago I'd have said Phil was finished but if he can play like that he'll certainly contend at the Masters again.

Have to agree Bob,

Tiger has been competitive recently and after his last round mare i guess there is a story somewhere, but seems a bit lazy to focus on him all the time and is wearing thin now. Think everyone needs to back off until he starts winning again or calls it quits.

Definitely would like to see more coverage of Phil and the up and coming talent.

I do hope we don't return to the days when we get endless shots of Tiger even though he's nowhere near leading a tournament. Maybe he's still a cult hero over there but its tournament leaders I prefer to see, along with good golf.

Totally agree but I fear TV directors will not be able to resist.
