No really!!!

Mrs took out Tesco pet insurance at something like #6 per month, then we got a letter through the door saying they were giving us a free Polaroid HD handy cam thingy ma jig.

Arrived today, Exact model is Polaroid DVG - 720E HD.

For free looks like a nifty bit of kit. Only problem is, it's SD or SDHC memory.

I have a micro SD with SD adapter and it doesn't seem to recognise it. Tried formatting it but just doesn't acknowledge the card as being there. Ideas anyone?

Will come in handy for Goswick :D

We have pet insurance through Tesco (pretty sure it is), at more than double what you pay, and have received zip. Lucky you.
Considering stopping it tbh, as it is getting silly money.

Tony, if it's hi def, you might need a bigger SD card.
Have a play with it and see how much memory it uses in HD.
Luckily, SD cards are coming down in price. Ask Smiffy, he just bought one recently.

If you are looking for SD cards try 7dayshop.com I used to be a photographer and they were by far and away the cheapest! (I have no connection to them)
Cheers

Bob, My micro SD worked. I shifted the files onto the computer and then formatted it using a different cam.

Bigslice, I have one, I used it today. Got some decent ish shots on cam and a couple of nice birdie putts.

Seems to use about 50Mb for 60 secs of film(ish)

Only problem is the format is .MOV, Windows movie maker doesn't support it.

Anyone know any decent, free programmes for converting files to mp4 of Jpeg etc.

Stopped our tesco pet insurance this year had slowly risen from £25 to £65 a month over the years. They said it was because the dogs are now older and more chance of illness. Far point but I've not claimed in the ten years I've had it so felt robbed. I'm sorry to say if they get badly ill it's the needle for them!

£65?!? The missus doesn't even pay that for two horses!

To be honest though, our vet surgery allows us to pay into our account in advance, so seriously toying with the idea of taking what we would pay in insurance for the 2 horses & the dog and just paying into the vets. I know they then get the interest on it, but it means that if/when we need anything it's already payed for. Along with that, the insurance states that we've got to pay the vet bill first and then claim back so we'd still be out the money for a while, along with the excess.
