Pink Floyds The Wall is about one bandmembers personal settlement with the audience.....in one section of the song.... someone singing _ "Anybody out there"--- Is it the little human asking out in cosmos or is it Pink Floyd asking the club of interest and tradition?

- I guess all organisations agree that it should builds shorter golf courses making more to be able to play. Courses must be more accesible for father, granddaughter, son etc to play a round of max two hours without losing two dussins of balls but still courses shall have challenging holes and obsticules and that a round cost 10 pounds.

Are you a traditionalist or do you think golf shall develop and fitt in the modern communite.

so how do you like your course to be, how shall your club be,let thru rules on the course, how shall your reception meet members and guests, the clubhouse function,, dresscodes.

A brick in the wall,

Everyone in golf is a traditionalist, or comfortably numb, it's the law..;)

I like the American model of having a good number of different tees to satisfy different abilities - just need clubs to run some comps off the shorter tees, and for ego's to buy into playing a short course. I also like clubs to cut the fairways reasonably close to the tees for those who no longer hit it like they used to. And I'd like the annual handicap review to take into account diminishing abilities instead of often just looking at cuts - note, as chairman of handicaps when there was a bit more latitude its something I used to do, and many older members played in comps a lot longer than previous records showed.

I tend to Run Like Hell and usually Feel Comfortable Numb. My partner and I are usually Poles Apart, and despite spending Money on lessons and gear I fear Time is running out to get to single figures

I agree with Hobbit and would like to see more tee options on newer courses but to be honest this is an expensive option and not viable for many existing courses

Courses get longer and longer so the club can hold a 'major' competition once,of any description, so they can boast it's a championship course.
There's an obsession that red tees are for ladies, yellow for everyone else, white for competitions only and blue for the club championship. Like the USA tees they should be played by handicap recommendation for guidance, club competitions excepted.

Our ladies have their own CSS and SSS to play comps off the yellow tees so definitely no obsession at my club. We also have the option to play the whites anytime and not just comps and we don't have blues. It means players of both sexes have a variety of tees to suit their ability and the competition

On a serious note, I like the fact that we have a set of three 9 hole courses that have varying length and even more testing from the whites. No one is anal at the club about where you play from and anyone can use any tees they wish outside of comps of course.
