Ok, we are not happy to play 'call up holes' in fear of hitting someone and getting sued.

But, what if someone is playing slow and does the honourabal and waves you through.

They are most likely standing at driving distance at the edge of the fairway after chopping one into the rough.

Perfect target, Perfect distance.

What will Mr prosecutor say now about your negligance after you hit said chap. :(

Is this the end of wave through's ???

Hmmm, think i might get that insurance after all.

Nobody intentially goes out to hit anyone and if you shout fore and indicate the line of the shot what else can you do?

If somebody sue's you after that then they deserve a boot in the chuckies!!

To be honest i come very close to hitting our treasurer the week after that thread about the exploding eye was posted, the £30.00 was a no brainer.

Twice in that round i made a mistake and played, One was a peach of a drive with an uncaculated tail wind, albiet very slight, it resulted in a ball 30 yards longer than i have ever hit down that particular hole, which carried the people i thought were out of range, and the second was a pured 8 iron from the 150 yard marker, it carried the green and the tee behind that was occupied. both were out of the blue and both were longer than i have hit the respected clubs in the relevant situations, but it shows how easy it is to do, and the thought of £300k just for mistakingly thinking its clear to go just doesnt seem worth it.

I think the cost of an annual policy is money well spent in my eyes for piece of mind if nothing else. Being what you might call directionaly challenged on the golf course anyway I have been known to bring players into range in all manner of directions and not always on the hole I was playing.

In relation to call up and playing through. Murph has it spot on. Wait on the tee and let them through there. Unless they hit the tee marker and it rebounds back between the eyes you "should" be fairly safe.

surely if they are calling you through, then they are:

1) accepting liability that A) they know your there
B) they have advised you to play your shot
C) in do both of the above put themselves in a place where they beleive their safe

i doubt anything would hold up in court if you had played a shot under their instruction.
