Tour Rookie
On the 13th hole at my track. I've taken a 3w to a 200 yard approach. I've really pured it and it's absolutely hurtling towards the green when I hear a thud and watch a bird divebomb into a tree.
I've gone over to it and it's in a pretty bad way. We assumed that it had a broken wing the way it was hobbling around and called the club to get somebody down to the hole. By the time somebody came it was a lot quieter and was sitting down. Suddenly it turned onto it's back and revealed a huge hole in it's chest. It was strangely pitch mark like, but bore all the way through. It started convulsing and eventually died. It was given a proper burial.
Nevertheless I was quite disappointed not to have a simple putt or chip and promptly shanked my 9 iron into some trees. I blame the bird for the demise of my round. I was 6 over at that point (24 handicap bandit etc) and finished 16 over. It obviously affected me.
