So cheating...

Well it turns out he didn't NR and had a 5 down on his card for the hole he was spotted cheating on.
Out of interest, what should his real score have been? Ball kicked out of rough, then hit a bit further with his club before taking his actual shot.

Hope you's keep on secretary back about this as he should be dq'd .1 and should be dragged over the coals as he has a big gob and if it was anyone else except his two grandsons he would be shouting his mouth off

It has been dealt with as far as we can take it mate, up to the club now but the guy is a serial offender as you know.

I think his actions can fairly be described as a "serious breach" of the rules and therefore DQ is the correct decision.

What about with a massive slice of "benefit of doubt"? Accidentally kicked his ball from the rough then his little stab at the ball was his next shot, can you accumulate penalties so 2 shots for moving ball then another 2 for playing from the wrong spot?

Not for me, you don't do that series of events accidentally and it will be plain and clear whether he actually played a shot after kicking it or whether it was a lie fluff type job.

I know, I was just wondering what the penalty would be should it ever happen.

Let's give him a complete gateau sized slice of benefit of the doubt then. First shot into the long stuff, he then "accidently" moves the ball with his size tens, +2 shot penalty, he then omits to replace the ball and plays from the wrong place + 2 shots, holes his next +1 = 6 at the very best. He declares a 5 and signs for it = DQ

Sounds like the chances are it wasn't his ball anyway ;)

My understanding would be that for the "accidental" kick, he incurs a penalty of 1 stroke, for ball at rest moved 18-2. As it has been moved, it must be replaced. If he fails to replace it, he is in breach of 20-7c and incurs a penalty of 2 strokes. However, it could then be argued that he has committed a serious breach as he would have gained a significant advantage as a result of playing from the wrong place and is thus DQ'd.

Don't think there's much doubt it would be a DQ and I don't believe for that type of DQ it would be considered a qualifying score....so no 0.1.
