Snowflake Britain

You are a better man than me if you can go through life without it winding you up 👍

I genuinely do not think I can recount an incident that has happened to me where I thought I was properly disadvantaged by H&S. I may well have shrugged my shoulders and tutted to myself on occasions, but there are many many more things that I'd like to see change to make the world a better place than H&S laws.

People who can't accept that time moves on, things change for better and worse and if they don't agree just throw around a word like snowflake at anyone who lives in 2018
I for one hark back to the 70’s!!
3 day week, nylon clothes, chip pan fires & Jimmy saville. It was a better time 🤣🤣

I hate everything the "snowflakes" represent and it's an indication of where Britain has been heading for the last couple of decades. Sometimes I want to grab hold of these people and give them a firm shale and tell them to get a grip but I tend to smile at their insecurities and move on with my own life. It's too short to let the professionally offended get in the way

People using a fake name on an online platform to complain about snowflakes is peak 2018.

One of the great ironies of our time. 😂

The entitlement culture, how did we get to the stage where so many have this hand wringing malaise whereby they despise their own country and are taken in by the idea that their future security and wealth are something the state and super state should provide for them. They need a dose of reality to teach them that we should stand on our own two feet and take responsibility for our own destiny.

Before any snowflakes jump in with "what about the poorest and disadvantaged in society" I would reinforce that we should always care for our our genuine disadvantaged people while always trying to return them to employment where ever possible.

Merry Christmas

If there wasn't an ever developing attitude of entitlement in many that manifests itself in a sue-sue-sue compensation mentality whenever anything goes wrong or isn't as we might want, then such as H&S rules wouldn't at times seem so tediously precious and pernickety. We have brought it upon ourselves.

Whereas there's nothing at all ironic about someone using a fake name on an online platform to complain about people complaining about snowflakes...

Wow. Some sensitive people on here these days. Guess that’s how we’ve progressed.
Anyhow, Merry Christmas to all, unless we now have to call it Happy Holidays to prevent offending people......... see what I mean?

I think some council tried to call it winter festival a few years ago, can't remember which one though.

One of the main issues I have is with all this Uber health & safety boll0ck$ (I make no apologies.) Kids not allowed to make slides in the playground, kept in at break time if there are too many wet leaves on the ground (slipping hazard)

My favourite phrase in recent times has been that kids today don’t know the colour of their own blood. I am sure we all got into scrapes when we were younger and managed to survive.

2018 for me will be remembered as the year of the easily offended

I actually don’t think you can blame “Generation Snowflake” for this particular issue to be honest. You can blame the legal profession, and by extension the general public - of all ages, not just one particular generation.

For several years now, as soon as someone is injured they get pound signs in their eyes. There is no such thing as “an accident” any more. Someone, somewhere is always to blame. The legal profession have pounced on this and absolutely milk it for all its worth. Turn your radio on to a commercial radio station and I can almost guarantee you that in the next advert break you will be asked if you’ve had an accident that wasn’t your fault, if your doctor or dentist has done something that’s upset you etc etc. And you’ll be being asked that question by a legal firm who want to “get some answers” for you. Because the word “accident” doesn’t exist any more.

So sorry, but I don’t blame the snowflakes for the particular issue of health and safety. I blame the legal profession and all of us as a society for pushing things the way they have gone. We have to collectively take responsibility for this one. You can’t blame a school or an employer for taking measures to stop a legal backlash against them.

And for every person who complains that “health and safety has gone mad” I’ll show you someone who would sue their local council if they tripped over a loose paving stone and thought they could get a few quid from it.

Great post DB. This year at work I updated the staff contracts and staff handbook. It started as a gdpr exercise and expanded. The back covering that has to happen now is ridiculous but without it staff and the parasites you mention will take advantage for a bonus few quid. It's a horrible change in society.
