Is there anything better than listening to Eric 'slowhand' Clapton??

I've got his various albums playing at the moment and he is unbelievable!!

I now know what I need to do - see this LEGEND live!!

He's not what he used to be and there are much better blues guitarists out there, but he has written some great blues licks. And he's pretty awesome live too.

Totally agree AW. I've got a lot of his stuff from over the years and it is my "go-to" music.

As for seeing him live? Depends on what you want I think. Yes, I'd love to see him now, just for the experience but, to me, it's now seems too easy for him, too clinical maybe? Listening to his stuff from the mid '60's when he was going from Mayall's Bluesbreakers to Cream, it was raw but, for me, as near to "blues" as a white boy (can I say that?) can get. Having said that, he did of course base his playing on the likes of Buddy Guy, Elmore James, et al.

My father used to go to some of his gigs at The Star at Broad Green, and at The Round House and reckoned that they were the best he ever went to. These were before I and, I suspect, you were born:mmm:

Talking of '60's blues, Steve Winwood did, and still does, a lot of work with Clapton. See if you can find Steve Winwood singing Georgia (on my mind) on t'interwobble. When I first heard it about 20 years ago, I thought it was a Ray Charles soundalike.

Having notched up over 1000 gigs over the years (showing my age now) I can honestly say he is the finest musician I have ever seen. I've yet to see anyone play any instrument better than EC plays the guitar. When you see him live he also usually brings someone well know with him. I saw him years ago when Phil Collins was on drums & also when Mark Knopler was with him. Went once which unknown to us was a charity gig....support bands were ZZ Top and Joe Cocker. He also seems to get better with age, his gigs with Stevie Winwood as couple of years ago were fantastic.....bloody expensive to see him now but well worth it.

I have seen Jools Holland several times and he is awsome on piano, I love his boogie playing and I've seen Rick wakeman playing keyboard tours as well as just piano and he is top notch too. Joe Bonnamassa was pretty brilliant on guitar too!

I'm due to see Jools and his band once again this May - never puts on anything other than a brilliant show!

He's cool. I've seen him half a dozen times and met him not so long ago, albeit for a short moment.
Oddly, I don't have many of his albums.....

Like his unpluged stuff. But alot of his stuff is just Robert Johnson covers. Anyway "white men cant play the blues". So they say. If you want to hear the blues, try Albert King, or S.R.V. Now thats the blues. Clapton is on one big ego trip.

Nope not for me, much too laid back and sends me to sleep. Deep Purple, Rainbow, Scorpions, Krokus etc now we are talking.;)

back in the 1960s The Graffiti said "Clapton Is God"
