It's the host phone that may have other apps which makes it all become illegal.
I have a Samsung Galaxy with no weather apps so would have no concerns about using it anywhere.
If you want to use it in a competition I would advise you to make enquiries beforehand.
Slime.
As Rosecott has said smart phones aren't legal in competitions whether you have weather apps or not
these Apps are extremely useful to build a picture of a players developing club distances when playing in non competition play.
Been using this app for a year.
Now have a much better idea on club selection around the course.
Foundthis to be the best of the rest at the price.![]()

As I said.......you have a phone and say a skycaddy. I see many guys with their phones on the course, even for a short time. How can anyone police this if you see someone with their phone. How do you know if they're not checking the wind speed or direction.
I'm checking sky sports app, I'm checking the football scores, I'm checking the weather, I'm checking my messages, I'm checking the time.......
Which is why clubs like mine do not allow mobile phones to be used on the golf course unless by prior arrangement. Easy.
Mind you I'll add that it seems to me that you are being somewhat disrespectful to your playing companions if you are '...checking the football scores, ...checking the weather, ...checking my messages'. Makes me wonder why you bothering playing golf for if such things are important - funny how we managed to be out of touch with such things when on the golf course before mobiles came along, and yet somehow the world didn't end![]()
