We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!
The coverage has been very bad, on one hole they did show Tiger putting out, then cut over to something else then went back to Tiger, Scott & Rory and showed Rory's approach to the green. I think they are going for Golf in reverse.
As for cancelling sky I called them last week as the Spanish football is finished and I was thinking of going to BT. Only downside with BT is no spanish football or golf. Not fussed for EPL or SPL both are boring as watching american tv. When I said I was going to cancel they knocked £20 off my package and game me free line rental & broadband for 9 mths. If you plan to do this just be careful you don't say you are moving to BT for the sports then mention you watch golf... sky know BT don't cover this.
I watch a lot of sport and Sky Sports getting hold of any sporting event is the best thing that can happen to it. Monty I think tries to be a bit controversial but it's not really in his character so it just comes across wrong and sounds a bit strange. I like Buth and the others in the studio.
Any has to be better than watching the BBCs awful attempts at using cricketers, footballers, tennis and horse racing experts to present a major golf tournament, and worse than all them, Nick Faldo, he makes Monty look good.
I didn't think there have been that many adverts in the coverage, you can tell when the US keep putting them in but at least Sky fill the time with some good analysis. Sky is one thing i'll happily pay for, as someone else mentioned, who else is giving 12 hours airtime to live golf in one day.
I haven't watched much of the open, and frankly am getting bored with the game on tv,its getting repetitive, caught a glimpse last night and had the misfortune to see MONTY,the expression on the mans face resembles that of some one with constipation.
have a day off you miserable lot...............every couple of weeks its a moan about
SKY
Adverts
Monty
Faldo
Sarah Stirk
Tiger coverage (nothing to do with TW but still, it's a chance to have a pop at him again)
BBC
Peter Allis
try having NO golf coverage for months except 35 mins of Renton Laidlaws 'highlights' or 'A Round with Allis' and you'll savour every last putt :whoo:
When it starts, hit pause, make tea or something for 20 mins and you can flick thru all the adverts when they come on
Yet another thread moaning about Sky. If you ever visit the US watch the coverage over there and you may change your opinion! Watching low res feeds on a computer screen maybe OK if you still live with your Mum and have your own bedroom
Yes Monty can rabble on and repeat himself but he speaks from authority and I hear him complimenting TW as much as he moans about him. Yesterday he said TW was the best putter ever, for example.
The presenters are very good and I prefer Howard on the course to Ken on the course
In a filler piece yesterday they looked back on Hogan - his car crash in 1949 and then winning at Merion in 1950. And they talked a lot about the 'over 200' yarder (implying 'way over') he played into the 72nd hole - and then got down in two to get into the play-off which he won. And I'm sure that they were going on about 1iron he used to play the shot - which was then stolen. And then they showed the 1 iron - and talked about how small the head was etc. But the shot was 'about 200yds' according to Hogan - and in fact he played a 2 iron? Eh? Has myth taken over from fact. Or did I mishear the piece.
