Used my sky caddie for the first time today on the back 9 at Merristwood but to complete the date catchment for the round it asks for a USGA rating and slope. I've dug around everywhere but the values I find (rating of 5) won't compute as it says it needs to be a value higher than 25 and slope a minimum of 70.

Totally confused over this, any ideas?

I'm not sure how the SkyCaddie software works but the USGA rating is similar to what we have in the SSS and the slope measures how much more or less difficult it is for a bogey golfer. I would say about an average course here would be 125-130 off whites. The maximum is 155.

Theoretically we are now using the USGA method to rate our courses, I don't know whether Merrist Wood will have them yet or not as there is a long schedule to have them rated. I'm not even sure if we will use the data like the USGA does or just use it to make our SSS more accurate.

Thanks for the info - thats quite helpful. Its not absolutlely necessary to have it theres just a handicap calculator that uses these figures that would be interesting.
