Well it seems the red faced ranter as dodged yet another bullet today. He has once again got off lightly with insulting a referee and questioning his integrity. I am asking myself if it is fitting for a 'Sir' being seen effin and blindin on the tellybox at linos and refs?

I think he should have been forced to do a referee course in front of the media cameras and banned from all matches until the new year.

They don't have the balls to punish him in the way that what he said merits , what he was trying to do was take the spotlight of how badly the team are playing and how useless Rio Ferdinand really is.

I t does seem to be one rule again. Not an Arsenal fan but if Wenger had said the same thing and hes no fan of referees then I'm sure he'd be facing a bigger and longer punishment.

I agree that there seems to be a complete lack of balls where dealing with Ferguson is concerned and its only natural that it then filters down to the players who think they are untouchable. Look at the way Neville, Rooney etc chase the ref if a decision goes the wrong way. Totally unacceptable from the top down.

I don't blame Fergie for making the comments as he is a master of mind games etc and so if he can put doubt in a refs head before the game more chance of a penalty or getting a decision. I lay the blame firmly with the FA and Premier League and to a degree with the Ref Association (or whatever the premier refs are called) for not standing up and demanding stronger actions

are you lot drunk? the automatic position of 90% of idiotic football fans is to oppose anything about ferguson, whether he has a point or not. I'm no fan of ferguson as a man, but if anything he and united are treated more harshly than any other club.

a two game ban for calling a portly man "unfit" - there was no question about his integrity madandra. Seems a bit harsh to me - especially if manhandling a referee and actually calling him a cheat is a three game ban (ballack, drogba), and suggesting one cannot see properly is a warning about future conduct (benitez). I happen to think benitez was the only one of those above treated with any sense of perspective - because he was right.

agree totally with steve's point that he was trying to deflect attention from a terrible performance, and then ironically ferguson becomes the boy who cried wolf when faced with some truly bad decisions in the liverpool and chelsea games.

every team in the league berates referees when decisions go the other way - I watched barnsley and sheffield united this week, and that was worse than a premier league game for it, if anything. I'm a non-league season ticket holder and it is just as prevalent in those leagues as it is at old trafford/stamford bridge etc (except wherever toure and deco play - can't think of any other players who harangue officials as much now keane has retired)

SAF always gets away with this kind of stuff, by rights he makes comments about the refs that often he should have a standing order set up to pay his pathetically small fines.

He questioned the mans ability to do his job and his fitness when in reality the ref had run further than most of the United team, the FA needs to start impossing coaching bans.

100 % in agreement with Dangermouse here...what exactly did red dish say that was wrong???!

On another note the punishment handed out to Scotlands Shame after their latest bout in Europe is utterly laughable but to be expected form the spineless organisation that is UEFA.

Find it disheartning that Ferguson gets away with it all the time. This is the most annoyed Iv ever seen the refs (so not really comparable with other instances) and yet their opinion was ignored.
To give him a further 2 matches suspended when only this weekend he again complained about the ref, his decisions and his positioning at the free kick is a complete joke. It is no wonder his players behave so abhorently on the pitch.

The man is a disgrace to football and and the sooner he retires the better the world will be.

Dont Dish him?

This is the man who treats the nation with disrespect when he refuses to be interviewed by the nations broadcaster. Who the hell does he think he is.
The best thing the BBC could do is refuse to show Man U games until he is prepared to appear and face questions.
See how long his arrogance would last when the Glaziers realise the effect a broadcating ban has on shirt sales.

I dont think you can put this down to 1 team. Most teams chase the ref when decisions go against them and Chelsea are by far the worst for this. You just have to look at the Champions League semi earlier this year for that even though i agree they were robbed. In Fairness i have seen SAF many times on the touchline shouting at players not to chase the referee and if you look at Rooney now compared to 3 or 4 years ago it is obvious that SAF has probaly spoken about it many times.

I am not saying utd players dont chase referee's i'm just saying that it is not down to SAF and better examples of players chasing referee's can be found.

I am saying this as an Arsenal fan and some one who does not like SAF but
The reason SAF doesn't speak to the BBC is the BBC aired a documentary that was not very complimentary about his son, I actually think it is a fair reponse and actually applaud his stance

I find it amusing that whilst the FA run their 'respect' campaign which aims to cut down on the verbal attacks on refs, the most high profile Manager of them all launches weekly attacks. I do agree that the punishment for the tirades is hardly likely to deter him in the future.
I also agree that his tirades are a smoke screen as his side has played poorly of late and rather than single out individuals for criticism he stings the man who is an easier target.
I'd love to see football run in exactly the same way as rugby in that the ref only converses with the Captains. Also, there is no back chat as this leads to VERY lengthy bans. I'm fed up with watching players on TV blatantly swearing at the match officials and NOTHING is done - either during the game or after. If a punch/elbow/head butt can be picked up after the game and the player punished, why can't the player be punished when he abuses the ref or linesman?? I bet they'd stop the swearing and abuse then.

Since when did he have the right to control the media. He is a senior employee of a significant corperation that relys totally on the public apetite for their product. The BBC is a corporation owned by that public. If he is that offended by the BBC, resign his position or withdraw the club from recieving the income the BBC provides them. Then I would applaud his stance.
Sam Allerdyce and Harry Rednapp saw the bigger picture, hes just too pigheaded.

The vast majority of the Man U television income comes from Sky he still talks to them I wouldn't imagine BBC accounts for any signficant numbers

Seemed to forget his moral stance when he presented Sir Bobby Robson with an award at the BBC sports personality awards.

I never thought I would be defending SAF but I guess he did that for Sir Bobby Robson
