I always keep a card for myself as well as - either marking a f c’s card or entering both scores on the SG App.
If scores are done by card I always check my card against the one recorded by my marker on a hole by hole basis.
When scoring via the App it checks that both scores returned for each player match.
In both cases there is no need (apart from personal interest) or reason why the scores should be added - and it’s not a requirement for the player to do so.
